It looks like you have a unique and strange problem. I use JCV files on my 1300 daily and it works fine (Always on SD card)
Try to use another SD CARD (Fat32 Format)
Try another Map / JCV combination (A small country just as a test)
Try to see if the JCV file registers in the Inventory Screen.
If it works in the unit it should also work on the SD card, make sure your path is correct (delete and re-create the folder).
Make sure that you don't have old JCV files somewhere.
Yeah, it's really strange!
What does Inventory Screen mean?
Anyway, I have reformatted my microSD card, created JCV, Map folder, and put all the files in it. It didn't work. So, I put another JCV file which previously worked in the Internal Storage but when it is in the microSD card, it encountered the same problem.
Well, I don't have any old North America JCV files that's for sure, but I do have 2 other countries latest JCV file which they are in the internal storage and they are working fine.

nuvi 12xx-13xx-14xx :battery symbol on main screen (hold 6 seconds)
This is from another nuvi:

No, the map doesn't register in the Inventory Screen but the other two JCV files do and at the last row they are filled with alphabets and numbers, not 'Unknown' 'Pass', just like the screenshot you posted for the Audio's last row. For Splash, the code is D1340-50 and it is 'Pass'.
@arthur88
That screen was posted by catymag as an example only to show you what it looks like. As she stated, it's from another nuvi model [a 465, not even JCV capable] and it wasn't meant for you to compare it to your Inventory as such.
Every enabled 1xxx nuvi is capable of using JCV files equally well from either folder, sd:/Garmin/JCV or unit:/.System/JCV so please back up your favourites and then either [Only registered and activated users can see links. I have cleaned Nonvol but the same problem still occurs.
Do I actually need to create a Garmin folder on the SD card and put JCV and Map folder in it? Because when I do that, both the map and JCV will become unreadable but when I only have JCV and Map folder directly on my SD card, the map is readable but the JCV is not.
Where have you been ?
On the SD Card
Map goes in folder named /Map
JCV goes in folder named /Garmin/JCV
There are other options but lets stick to the KISS Priciple.
Whew, problem solved! :)
I'm sorry for not catching this tiny mistake I made for not putting only the JCV folder in the Garmin folder, I originally thought the Map and JCV folder should be in the Garmin folder which causes the map not to function but the JCV does and I don't know about it.
Thank you daslivarsa, catymag and Neil for thinking ways of getting me out of this problem. I really appreciate it! :)
So, does it mean that only the Map folder should be outside the Garmin folder?
There are 3 possible root folders supported by 1xxx series in microSD, Garmin and Map as you know and also POI. However POI folder can also be inside the Garmin folder.Quote:
