Also these's another way to avoid using a hex editor to trim the unwanted first bytes. An img file can be extracted from any such rgn file by opening it in [Only registered and activated users can see links. That trick will work using RGN_Tool for any other similar support file from Garmin such as a Voice presented as an rgn file to convert to a vpm etc.
I'm reasonably happy to work with a hex editor now, but having no prior experience early on looked for and found all sorts of ways to avoid doing anything in hex in my very noobish days playing with garmin devices. Now graduated from 'very noobish' to 'noob' ;)
This is a perfect example of large corporation not able to fix a minor problem fast enough as compared to the users (*cough* hackers) of their products! Someone should offer to send them the fix (for a small fee)

I am trying to understand the fuss regarding the frequent updates to Time Zone.
Ever since the mathematician Filopanti presented the idea of time zones in the 19 th century, little has changes with the layout of Earth. So what's the big deal when using TZ versions 16, 15, or 5?
Maybe it's to do with DST changes. As seen by the vast orange patches in the following map, Daylight Saving been tried and abandoned by numerous countries/states:
