The good manner is checksum for files! Pity that we do not use this manner here. The one exception for this method is gmapprom.img. But really this file is the same for all besides a some different values in the beginning of file. It are time and date of creation. I usually calculated checksum (md5 for example) not for whole gmapprom.img. I mark the block from GARMIN (x42) to end of file and save checksum for it. In the next time when I get new gmapprom.img file from webupdater I only check checksum for this block. If it is equal I have full assurance that no change took place in it!Quote:
