What is ISM? Thanks.
Not sure what it stands for. May be something like "Instant Search Map", just a guess. It is a Garmin subfile type usually related to another subfile type QSI (again not sure what it stands for, may be "Quick Spelling Input", another guess) for China maps.Quote:

Yes, Type14_1 and Type18_1 are shifted Hong Kong/Macau 2013.20 maps (CN HK/Macau NT 2013.20NI) in traditional Chinese (CHT).
i have a Nuvi40LM - US version, which file shall i download. i've tried nuvi50 but system error couldn't find base map. please advice.
For US/EU firmware version units of any model you need the Venus map [Shift-corrected] from Post #2. The original NT17 map [Shifted] and additional files in Post #1 are only for Chinese units. Here's a succinct explanation by the author of Venus maps syzygy in [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...].
So for English users in China, what are the options?
I have a Nuvi250 from Europe, I have seen and used the localized Garmins, but I generally prefer the EU firmware, so would prefer sticking with my 250, just getting newer maps. Is there any way to do that?
Thanks
Hi,
just wondering which type of un-shifted map is actually used in Garmin App for Iphone.. thanks
You may try the English version (with all names in PinYin), although about one year old.Quote:

The iPhone StreetPilot uses maps from AutoNavi (高德). You can download various maps directly as below.Quote:
