No, no change. If, for example, I try to set location with GPS simulator on at intersection of Albion St and Crown St (-33.884031,151.215316). I tap that location as precise as possible, blue call out shows on screen. I tap that call out, and scroll down to "Set location" button. As soon as I press it, GPS shuts down. I need to press power button to turn it on again. I guess I'll have to look around for original map...

No crash for my 3590 using 2014.20 set to that location. That's with both original direct-dl image P/No D248511AG036 and image generated by MI using the gmap folder from Post #1.

If you'd like to scuttle on the spot for a while i'll upload the original map image for you ....

Thanks. I'm downloading but will have to wait until tomorrow to test it. And now there's update from Sensis in another thread, so I may try that one if everything fails. But I don't have experience with their data. Is it any better than NAVTEQ in Eastern Australia?

As far as new roads is concerned I do prefer Navteq to Sensis, at least on the Eastern seaboard. Some ppl will say that Sensis has better b/in pois, but even if that's true i'd rather have more up-to-date roads and smell my way to the nearest Maccas. Garmin started loading Navteq exclusively onto new Nuvis in early 2012. AFAIK all upper-echelon 2012 nuvis [3490, 3590 etc] were sold from then with LM Navteq so there are no ASR'2' files available for Sensis maps, only ASR'1' suitable for 2011 devices [e.g. 3790, 2460].

If that original image map i uploaded doesn't work properly in your 3580 after unlocking, i'll eat my hat.
    NB: I don't wear headgear.

If it didn't work I'd buy you a hat to eat it. Link deleted by MOD ( useless) nonetheless. But now it works with no issues.

Navigation (simulated), 3D, junction views, speech recognition, all of it. I don't know about traffic trends, but then again, without driving there for a while you never know if that thing is doing something other than taking memory space. Many thanks for help and image.

Glad you're sorted, but i'd like to get a little more info from you. If we have faulty maps in those dl links i'd like to fix things before more users get them. 'Steak'n'kidney' is not the best city to be suddenly left without GPS guidance if you're an out-of-towner.

You said in Post 17 that you got faulty images from both Posts 2 & 4, it may be that they're the same file and 4 is a mirror of 2. But which one, the locked or unlocked file, or did you try both?

You also mentioned that the torrent in Ipmark's Post #14 doesn't actually have ASR files included and that's confirmed by the torrent file list so i've done an edit to reflect that, but did you dl either the map image or MS version via that torrent too?

The gmap folder obtained from Post #1 generates a good image with MI as far as i'm concerned. Are you sure that's the one you used and also did you make your image with MapSource or MapInstaller?

As much info as possible would be helpful.

PS: I'd rather eat a VW than a Tilley hat. Those things are tough. But thanks for the offer/[bribe?] .... lol.

I downloaded locked image from post #2 (from both links). Files in post #4 look like mirror of those from #2. I never download unlocked image, unless I have to. I unlocked it with gimgunlock v0.03 (tried PGFT with same result). It's hard to mess up unlocking. It's either simple command line with no parameters or drag&drop. I've done it many times over the years.

I downloaded torrent and tried that map too. Same problem. Map I created from MapSource install in post #1 was with MapInstall v3.4.14.
My 3580LMT (North America) firmware is latest one. All 2014.20 AU & NZ maps, except your original, caused GPS shut down when trying to set location in Sydney area (in order to start GPS simulation of the route). All previous versions, up to and including 2014.10, worked fine.

Ummm... I've dl'ed the locked image from Post #2, unlocked it and it works fine in both NA 3597 and AU 3590. I can't replicate the crash & reboot problem you had with your 3580 in the same Surrey Hills location. One of life's great mysteries perhaps, but it does lend credence to the theory that the most reliable images are the ones directly dl'ed from Garmin rather than those produced from a gmap folder. Every image posted here other than the one in Post #25 has been produced from a gmap folder, and almost certainly the same gmap folder which you and i both used to produce an image i.e. the one in Post #1. However the one i made works just as well as my original Garmin dl image.
