Uninstall previous version from control panel or use Mapsetoolkit
???
I have Mapsource 6.16.3 which does not require installation. The maps are from here, so without installation. I just put the unlocked gmap dirs under in the Mapsource/Maps dir.
So again no installation.
Can I not unpack the exe file and get the maps?
Only I do not understand how inno unpack works.
use Command prompt
innounp.exe
-x *.exe extract the files from the installation (to the current directory)

Putting the unlocked gmap in the Mapsource/Maps directory won't work.
You must put the gmaps in (different for the windows-version):
- Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Garmin\Maps or C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Application Data\Garmin\Maps
- Vista/Windows 7: C:\ProgramData\GARMIN\Maps or C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\GARMIN\Maps (also Windows 8 I guess)
It does work.
MS 6.16.3 is a version that does not require installation. If you have a map MAPS in teh MAPSOURCE map you can put your cards there.
Same for Basecamp adjusted version. It runs all from an USB stick.
In the meantime I got Inno unpack to work and with gmaptool and gpsmapper I am creating the gmap now. I'll keep you posted.
I prefer to use Mapsetoolkit , faster ;)
On my pc everything goes slow. But I used the Toolkit to check the registry and uninstall a few things.
I got the map working in MapSource, unlocked with Jetmouse. It works.
But this is not what I was hoping for. I would like to create a unlocked gmap map out of this. So I can put it where I want without installing. On my USB stick.
How to do that?
I remember there was a tool, but I forgot. Normally I download the gmap unlocked for Mapsource versions. Just did it with the 2014.20 map too.
JaVaWa Mapconverter!
It is running right now.
And it is ready.
1 question. Its still requires a code to unlock.
How do I put this somewhere in the gmap so it is unlocked already and MapSource will not ask for a code anymore?
Or how do you make an unlocked gmap?
Anser: use Mapsource Unlocker!
I transferred the maps (2014.20, 2013 2.10 and 1.03b) to the gps.
After starting up it did nog read the maps. Running Fast IMG Unlocker 2.1 made everything fine again.
What caused this?
Well I have unlocked the Gmaps in mapsource using Unlock Mapset 2 and UnlockMapSource 2.6.
The first is fast, the second slower. One of them is causing problems, or the combination.
Which one do you advise to use and which not?
It's the same, same stuffs inside, weird because both unlockers should made the map unlockable, so you could transfer the unlocked img in every device. But I don't know exactly what you have done with those files. Probably you haven't unlocked all.
You are correct. Win 8 is the same path as Vista/7.Quote:

The easiest way to unlock just for MS etc use and generate a locked image which can then be completely unlocked with [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] for device use is here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...], two easy methods with or without using Command Prompt. No need to use JM codes in MS.Quote:

I agree, Caty's right as always. The gmap folder is probably 'Unlocked' but not 'Not Lockable' [unlockable]. See above link. If you unlock just the *.tdb file in the gmap's Product1 folder it's 'Unlocked'. Running the unlocker in the gmap folder itself will make it 'Not Lockable'. No need to torture yourself further .... ;)Quote:
