2fluorescent I respect your aspiration to understand as works a fxor, but it would be IMHO simpler to download the previous (or earlier) release of the map or even PART of the map (the size of part of the map for the mapupdater isn't important) and make updating of the map by means of an mapupdater available for you.
to pitruchio:
You are right! I have copied the gmapsupp.img from Navicom Roads of Russia TOPO - Version 6.09 to sd-card/garmin/ and did run the MapUpdater616All_1281.exe.
This did update the gmapsupp.img in the sd-card, the updated img is decrypted!
Problem solved, nevertehless it would be interesting how fxor works...
Let fxor work, your map is still xored.Quote:

fid 1790 have different building footprints type only. It was created for old version of new devices SW without support of 3D footprint specially. fid 1281 was initially intended for device with support 3d buildings which was incorporated to map for this FID. In any case there are no difference for routing and searching with any FID!
The similar situation is for Roads of Russia...
Now I got it how to decrypt Roads of Russia!
The simple way - no additional software needed but you need a previous version of Roads of Russia with same FID:
Take a sd-card, create a folder "garmin" in it, copy the previous "gmapsupp.img" into the folder "garmin"
Download the new version, unrar it and run "MapUpdaterAllxxx_yyyy.exe". "xxx" is the number of the release (eg. 514 or 616) and yyyy gives the FID (1280, 1790 etc).
Then you have to click through several windows, you have to accept the agreement and so on. The text is not very helpfull...

This takes some minutes and will update the "gmapsupp.img" in the sd-card.
The other way - software required but no previous version needed
This is done in three steps, some of these steps can be done in several ways.
First of all create a new folder "11" in the root directory.
First step:
Download the new version to "c:\11", unrar it and extract the "gmapsupp.img" from the unrared files "MapUpdaterAllxxx_yyyy.exe", "MapUpdaterAllxxx_yyyy-1.bin" "MapUpdaterAllxxx_yyyy-2.bin" and "MapUpdaterAllxxx_yyyy-1.bin" to "c:\11".
Two ways how to do that:
First way:
Run "MapUpdaterAllxxx_yyyy.exe". That will create a temporary folder into the folder where the operating system stores the temporary files. While "MapUpdaterAllxxx_yyyy.exe" is running you can see where to the img is extracted. Takes some minutes.

As soon as you get
[Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]
you can copy the "gmapsupp.img" from the temporary directory to "c:\11"
Second way:
Copy "innounp.exe" to "c:\11" and copy the unrared files "MapUpdaterAllxxx_yyyy.exe", "MapUpdaterAllxxx_yyyy-1.bin" "MapUpdaterAllxxx_yyyy-2.bin" and "MapUpdaterAllxxx_yyyy-1.bin" to "c:\11"
Leftclick "Start" and then "run", type "c:\11\innounp.exe -x c:\11\MapUpdaterAllxxx_yyyy.exe" and leftclick "ok"

This will extract "gmapsupp.img" to "c:\11\{tmp}", move the "gmapsupp.img" from "c:\11\{tmp}" to "c:\11\"
Takes some minutes and this "gmapsupp.img" is xored AND encrypted.
Second step:
Unxore the "gmapsupp.img"
Copy "fxor.exe" to "c:\11", you need to have "gmapsupp.img" and "fxor.exe" in "c:\11"
Leftclick "Start" and then "run" and type: "c:\11\fxor.exe - c:\11\gmapsupp.img" and leftclick "ok"
A dos-window will open and when it closes after some minutes the "gmapsupp.img" is unxored.
!!the timestamp of the "gmapsupp.img" is not changed!!!
Third step:
Open the unxored "gmapsupp.img" with an Hex editor, Caty proposed "HxD"
In the third line there is written "ASKIMG", change that to "DSKIMG" and save this "gmapsupp.img"
Done! But note: the "gmapsupp.img" is decrypted now but it is locked still. You have to unlock it!
And many thanks to Catymag and pitruchio!!!
What would be your advice for the 3790T device? FID 1281, 1790 (i used DR TOPO 6.15 with this FID=1790) or anything else?Quote:

When DR TOPO 6.15 was the only map chosen - i saw 3D-buildings in SPb as semi-transparent white ghosts 8), where as in CN Russia NT 2013.40 they appeared to be solid and brown.
Please...where can I find "fxor.exe"? Thank you!
