Yes, on 1350 you can do that, but personally i avoid having 'unofficial' maps on the unit memory if possible. My preference is to put them on a microSD and if you have a conflicting (overlapping/same series different version) 'official' map on the unit just disable it. If the new 'unofficial' map causes any problems just take out the card and the unit functions normally. You can use these paths: sd:\Garmin\gmapsupp.img or sd:\Map\anyname.img (e.g. CNNT_AUNZ_2013.40.img) for easy identification. You may have only 1 in sd Garmin folder, but multiples with different names in Map folder. You can also have a Map folder on the unit. Read up here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Best to just use search to find this stuff quickly and to save posting.

Sorry, but newbie here. I have an old garmin nuvi 255W. Does this means I only need the img file and don't have to bother about the 3D files and the ASR, JCV, SQLite or even SID files?

*The garmin was actually a borrowed unit, so I am really a newbie in this sense! *

Yes, none of those other files will work in a 255W or any 2xx series. You only need the image. Have a read of what the other files do if you like to bother: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

Make sure you do a files backup and also an NV (Non-Volatile Memory) back up as well before you play around with it [particularly seeing it's a borrowed unit ]: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

Quick question, with this latest map I was driving in Sydney and searching IKEA Tempe from POI list but nothing hit (only IKEA Rhodes shown).
Does anyone know if this map contain IKEA Tempe information as POI - or am I missing something?

IKEA Tempe... we both know it exists, don't we (unless it's burnt down recently of course). Regardless it's not a POI in this map. But, if Navteq get their data from Sensis (God forbid) that would explain it because they don't know were it is either:

    ikeatempe

    For sure, LocalStore Locator does:

    ikeatempe1

So that makes 3 of us. I guess we can't blame Garmin this time ...

How you named it and where you put it would have been good to know. But at least we know you have a 205. Read these threads:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] (for detail maps the naming convention is the same for 2xx as 7xx)
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] (particularly [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and the one above it).

If your 'unlocked' map still doesn't work, unlock it again with [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] to ensure it is in fact unlocked or maybe you have a faulty map. You can check it's unlocked and not faulty with [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Always better to dl locked maps and unlock them yourself imo.

I am still a user and trying to learn as much as I could.

My Garmin nuvi 2455lmt unit is preloaded with the North American Map version. So, I believe the unit 's main map is gmapprom.img.

I got this latest map for traveling in Australia and New Zealand (thank you). Now, I need help so that I can use the map.

My Garmin doesn't have enough space for me to install the new maps. So, I need to install the new maps on a new SD card.

Should I just create a folder called \garmin and just copy the gmapsupp.img file to the \garmin folder?

When I start my Garmin, I just need to select the SD card and it should work?

Are there any files I need to copy? If so, what do I need to put in the \garmin folder other than the gmapsupp.img file??

Please help. My head is spinning.

    Thanks in advance.
