I do not check it! But old version of this map do not work with some device without support of NT format. If my memory is, of course
Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?

Garmin often have variant readings with the reality on official site. It is a usual NT map, and Garmin etrex legend HCx is reading it. May be you lose a some functionality on map but your device lose to it on all modern map. Moreover I see in list the GPSMAP 60/76Cx that have the same navigation engine...
The "install maps on eTrex Legend" option is greyed out in basecamp. Pic here: OoAyO

I'm using the imdisk virtual disk driver from this thread:[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] to open the map in Basecamp.

    Am i doing something wrong?

Be sure to have the latest firmware and copy the unlocked map directly in sd in a Garmin folder, named gmapsupp.img-
I guess just one gmapsupp.img per sd is supported

The "Install Maps ..." in BaseCamp is only for MapSource maps installed to your hard drive. It invokes MapInstall where you pick map tiles from INSTALLED maps.
IMG-maps is just copied to the destination media. Sometimes it needs to be renamed due to the capabilities of the GPS unit.
