would there be a way to combine this to 1 img with the full CNNA img without losing any function?
This map IMG is included with the U.S.A. Colorado/Oregon 400t (and some other "t" models).
Garmin combined/reduced the 6633 tile segments of MapSource version into less (but larger sized) tiles.
This is so full coverage can still be included with this ALL-IN-ONE map IMG file shipped with the "t" models above.
Extract the attached .rar file below.
It contains a .dlc container file.
To download, run either JDownloader or CryptLoad.
Drag the extracted .dlc file into either program window.
There are 5 .rar files that total 2.31 GB.Code:Please Login or Register to see the links
The uncompressed IMG will be 2.63 GB.

It won't work at all because of a file size limitation.
Garmin GPS units use a FAT32 file system that has a 4 GB per img file size limit.
Garmin (and all other GPSR manuacturers) use FAT32 because it's a known standard and compatible on Mac OSX, Linux and Windows.
Combining this map img with the full latest CNNA img (2012.10) would result in an img file that's greater than 4GB.
ALL img files MUST be less than 4 GB or the device can not read it.

I see. thanks for the info.
Is there a page on splitting img's to mapsource? I've done it a few times, and it works most of the time, but i've also read posts here where it suggests you lose searching and/or other things. I guess I'm looking for a page that gives the details on the pitfalls of going backwards to MS from an img file. Obviously, what i'm thinking now is using this complete topo image and removing some areas to get the size down, but i don't know what functionality I'll lose in the process.
Has anyone tested this download yet? Reviews?
yes, as is, it works. for the area i went to, there were no poi's stores restaurants etc where the normal topo would.
edit... sorry, I went to a US city to check the img and saw no poi's which is normal. I was confusing it with topo canada which does have all the stores and poi's found in cnna.
so, yeah, the topo US file in this post works.

This is the version of topo 2008 I was looking for. I had downloaded the Topo 2008 CD/DVD version and didn't like it because of the map segment limitation. Now...I'm good. :D
Unfortunately, most of the files called by the dlc file are "not found"
just uploading and filesonic are offline, use jdownloader and you wont have any problems-
RS ,fileserve, depositfiles, megaupload and directhttp work
You have to navigate to get to the good.
