@Taurean75, that's a pretty big assumption, now isn't it? What's the purpose of these forums? Is it ONLY to help those who know what to do with the files?
Is it be too much to ask to update the descriptions/instructions as necessary without having them "search" for the instructions. Is it THAT much work for the mods to add instruction and detail to the post where the files are? I think it's rather selfish to assume everyone knows what to do...to only post for those who know what to do and/or identify the files. I don't subscribe to the methodology that the users must read countless other threads and posts just to accomplish basic tasks: identify, run, unlock, and transfer files to your device.
In my situation, I am able to figure out what to do with these files. However, it was a 50/50 choice on which files should I download? The first set or the GMAP set? Let's try to help each other out without having to wait before people start to post on what they should do. If I was mod here, I'd do things differently and make it as easy as possible for people to accomplish their task ;)
And what did I do? I unpacked the files using WinRAR. I then ran MapREVERSEConverter. I selected the subdirectory where the mapset was compressed to (OTHER) "City Navigator North America NT 2011.40.gmap". I clicked Ok and the mapset was being converted to my exisiting mapsource directory. The map was already unlocked because I ran the ALL. BAT app told me the maps were unlocked.
You see, I don't mind sharing information. I believe in having instructions BEFOREHAND is the way to go. Everyone is a noob at some point. The entire collection/upload for 2011.31 was a complete joke. I had no idea what to do...there was one set of files that once they were uncompressed were split three ways into different regions. The lack of support in the thread was shameful, imo.

The map will be in Mapsource without any other tweaking.

I thought these were the instructions on how to get maps onto your PC for routing: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]?
You asked intructions about how to use updater and how to save files on pc. you posted with an inappropriate title and in wrong section. I changed the title and moved it, in this way it will be useful for other members too, not only for you.
Noeman users fortunately read tutorials and like to learn something ;)
Tutorials are made to give instructions, and you have a confortable index link to find quite everything you need. And following our posting rules , mods shouldnt give already answered questions on forum. It's not my case, I repeat and repeat lol, but it's ok, especially if questions are posed in a polite way.Quote:
Just an FYI. You guys are making things more complicated than they need to be. I really appreciate the work the mods are doing here, but I've been noticing uploads are being posted in a hasty manner. Some of you may be used doing things the "hard" way and it may seem second nature to you, but it may not be so obvious to others.
We'r not a torrent site, we have usually direct links and they'r updated and kept alive for our usersQuote:
One should think about everyone when an upload is made and posted. It should have instructions, clear, detailed, thorough instructions in the first post. When downloading via torrents, uploaders provide quite clear and virtually idiot proof instructions right on the first page along side of the description of the torrent. No linking to threads or forums with dozens of other links to sift through. This is just one MAJOR reason torrents are so popular.
Details are in tutorials, and in sections sticky threads, eg.Quote:
Everything is described in detail on what needs to happen to install these programs and where applicable, transfer to the device--all in the first or second post (no redirection of links).... at least that's the way it SHOULD be. If this basic premise is applied, then this will lessen the number of questions asked/posted on how to run and install the programs. Obviously, it won't eliminate all questions.

Cant repeat instructions in every threads, should be too long and useless for most of users, who need more instructions can go to tutorials.
Try to read something, may be you'll learn something usefulQuote:
Right now, we have this link which doesn't help people to install the files that are available for download: "Before posting take a look here [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]" I feel the link is useful in general, but that doesn't help one in terms of what needs to be done now after they unpack the files they just downloaded.

I am going to do everyone a favor. Once I get the above files and onto mapsource, I hope, I'll post the files and unlocked maps via torrent after my download cap from my ISP is reset. Rapidshare, megaupload etc. is so old school. I am honestly amazed that people here aren't using MIRC. It's not much better than the sites already mentioned. lol. IMHO, if these sites like Rapidshare and Megaupload are going to be used, then they should be in a format CryptLoad will understand (.dlc format) so people won't have the download restrictions imposed of reaching your daily limit. I dont like Jdownloader bcuz it's full of adware. Besides, I havent found one copy that doesn't have adware or malware.

you would have get the official Jdownloader site link: no malware
Jdownloader is the best way to download from multiple direct links, torrents are good if they'r new, after a week seeders abandon and they become terribly slow or dead. Try find all the maps we have in our index on valid torrents please.
Here links are good for 90% of the maps in our map index(may be more?)
we have a report button if you find a broken link.
Bro, If you want a new map, lol, you visit Noeman first ,I guess :) :)
any idea of JCV file and 3D bulding files for 37xx devices ?
What's the GMAP folder? Mapsource version?

2011.40 Mapsource files + Mapsource v6.16.3 (patched) + Fast Unlocker v1.9 worked flawlessly and painlessly. Couldn't have been easier.
Many thanks to all involved!
