    Hi Milton

I flashed my nuvi 1490t with the modified software and nearly bricked my unit. The main danger is the rollback to V3.00. if you don’t do it correctly, the system gps will not turn on and request you to bring it to a nuvi 2x5 engineer.

Although yours is 1460 so there might be no such problem, personally I find it to be highly unstable(read my earlier post) rendering it almost unusable.

My advice is wait for someone to fix the bugs(traffic receiver software will not stop updating, TSM Duo will not work etc)

    Hi All
    I've a 1490T I followed the following procedure

Quick guide fo convert Nuvi 1490 US to Nuvi 1490 TH

    1. Delete Gupdate.gcd from your Nuvi 1490 US.
    2. Backup your GPX.
    3. Copy th_TH.kbd , th_TH.glx and 006-D2225-00.bin to their folder.
    4. Downgrade your FW Nuvi 1490 US to 3.00 US by 1490 300US.rgn with Updater.
    or nuvi13xxand14xxseries_regionfileonly__300.gcd.
    5. Convert your Nuvi 1490 US to Nuvi 1490 TH by 1490 3.00 US TO 1490 3.00 TH.rgn with Updater.
    6. Reboot and checksum your Nuvi 1490US it will be 1490TH FW 3.00.
    7. Your Nuvi 1490 is not permanent firmware you can not update directly by original TH firmware
but it work for JCV and Lane assist.

    My questions/problem
    1. except for step 4 & 5 which i drag the .gcd & .rgn to "webupdater" it seems to update but when i power off/on the unit the software version is still 4.90 (the downgrade & conversion is not successful right ?)
    2. i then delete the gmapprom.img that came with the unit and replace it with gmappromTH110.img renamed to gmapprom.img is this step ok
    3. i copied JCV110TH.jcv on to the unit
    4. When i turn on the unit it able to display the map manage to simulate route but when it reaches the junction it just shutdown, is the jcv not compatiable?
    5. Next i tried play around with the icon, i think the last one that i play with was ecoroute then i turn it off, this morning when turn on the unit it just start up for short while (it didn't reach the gui screen) it shutdown, how should i solve this issue ? Note: I managed to get the updater.exe should i redo the 7 steps again
    6. For step 6 how could i check the checksum

    Thank you

1). Updater you mentioned is not Webupdater but it is "Updater.exe"
4). Because your 1490 still be US unit , so it's normally shutdown when reach Thai JCV.
6). Step 6 means going to "Inventory page" :: To go there and check what hwid and swv for boot section.

    For 5).
Can you access mass storage mode now ?

    Hi aekhong
Thanks for your reply, from previous post this is what i've done
    1. remove the gmappromTH110.img (gmapprom.img), JCV110TH.jcv
    2. reset (power on + bottom right screen)

I then retry downgrade the unit again, following this procedure
    1. Delete Gupdate.gcd from your Nuvi 1490 US.
    2. Backup your GPX.
    3. Copy th_TH.kbd , th_TH.glx and 006-D2225-00.bin to their folder. ===> .kbd to \KeyBoards // ==> 006-D2225-00 to .System\ExtData ??
    4. Downgrade your FW Nuvi 1490 US to 3.00 US by 1490 300US.rgn with Updater.
4.1 For this step i discover that inorder to use udater.exe the unit have to be in diagnose mode (press battery icon until it enter the dianose mode then connect the usb cable)
4.2 drag "1490 300US.rgn" to updater the screen shows upgrade progress
4.3 upon completion uplug the usb and the unit reboots and stop at screen saying somthing is mismatch (unfortunately i didn't capture it) and suggest using webupdater to update
4.4 Finally i update the unit using webupdate and i managed to boot up the unit again
    5. my unit system software is 4.90

    any suggestions

    Thank you

Do you recall it said "GIR Version Mismatch" ?? if yes it means that rgn file you got has a wrong fw1_resources.bin for US unit.
If you like to downgrade to US 3.00 ( Be sure your 1490 is US unit and your current firmware contain US hwid in boot.bin, You can check it out with inventory page and see what hwid of boot section ) , The other way is
    - Get original US swv 3.00 gupdate.gcd and downgrade as normal and it should work.

Did you check your RGN file with RGN_Tool ? And what swv for fw_all.bin part (300 or 490 ? ) ?
