You have to navigate to get to the good.

I have the same question but was unable to find the answer in this thread.
I followed the instructions from post #8 to split v8 from the main gmapsupp.img file:
After splitting, I get these three files:
- FAM_0185.img (48.2 MB)
- FAM_0460.img (296 MB)
- FAM_2120.img (86.7 MB)
As I understand it, v8 is contained in FAM_2120.img. Being the latest version, why is the size so small compared to v7 ???
If I want to get only v8 into one of my nvi's, do I have to take the MapSource route (which means losing address search capability) or is there another way (and maintain address search capability)?
The file posted in post one is a complete map, some files are from the previous versions .
Gmaptool MS maps loose adress search as usual. Unfortunately GMapTool is unable to convert a MDR file form mapset into a format acceptable by Mapsource.

Thanks for your quick reply, catymag. I have used the gmapsupp.img version from post #1 (unedited) in my nvi 350, but the moment I select Where to? -> Address, I am asked to "Spell State/Province". No input is accepted. The moment I touch the button, I get an annoying "No Matches Found". See screenshots below:
It appears the map does not have address search capability...
See also post #27 and #38. Not sure what you mean by your reply in post #28 though.
try in simulation to put your position in a korean city than try to use search
edit: you'r right I tested it in my Nuvi , the map doesnt have adress search , probably it comes from a Gmaptool mapsource install of 3 versions of Korean CN , can search just by Pois

I noticed version 8 file size is small. Is it only a subset/updated map? Do I have to use v8 in conjunction with v7 and v6 as well to form a complete map set?

Thanks for sharing, great help! Have someone update the PID/FID list with Korea V8 English please (I finally found it in your post above to back up my own purchased maps).
Warning to users of V7/V8...The spelling conversion from Korean to English SUCKS on these new maps. I tend to keep a copy of V6 (Awesome spelling) on a SD card for use on Garmin or in MapSource to lookup cities/locations. After finding it I then use V8 to get me there. Example: Chunchon city on V6 (proper or close at least) is spelled "Cun Con" on the V7/V8 maps. I already talked (several times) to NEVE Corp (Garmin's rep here in Seoul) about it and they don't seem to care much. The spellings should be the same as the English on their signs here...but it isn't.
Thanks again for all the helpful posts, I learned a TON just reading them. Hopefully address lookup will come later.
My Nuvi 250 shows this map (3 versions) is loaded to the device, but when I try to search for an address, it can't find Korea. Therefore, may I know if there is a Korea map that I can search by address? Desperately need this kind of map now. Thank you very much.
