I used gmaptool to combine all the .img files and .typ file. It joined then all to one file but in the process I got an error "header length not even". The map seems to work fine but should I be worried about the error?
you must use mapsource to create the IMG as explained in the tutorial and in many threads, eg here

Hi catymag,
Tried using the search function and it works. Used gmaptool 5.5. Will test it more to confirm.
Thanks
gpsmaster;
I will attempt to translate mr sucram/(Marcus in reverse)
then JOIN RG.PH if you really need maps...you'll be much happy if you seen your contribution in the next version, yung kapakipakinabang ka magkaroon ng mapa,,PINOY NGA NAMAN...mga JUAN TAMAD
if you really need maps...you'll be much happy (wrong grammar, should be "happier") if you seen your contribution in the next version (wrong grammar again, should be "you've seen") (he doesnt teach you how to get a map though, but he's telling you how to be "much happy") yung kapakipakinabang ka magkaroon ng mapa (this means "you're worthy to own/recieve a map )
PINOY NGA NAMAN...mga JUAN TAMAD (it simply means a guy named Juan is Lazy) Hope that helps.
Nice translation jameson (with english grammar lessons). Seems like this guy Marcus is very much Unhappy.Quote:

Ms caty,
Ok I tried out the new version of the map 1.15, there seems to be a bug. When i press in a to go to a destination that is more than 35 kilometers away, the unit cannot complete calculating the route. I went out of town to try it out. It can't compute at the 50 km range. Am i the only one with this problem? I reinstalled the older version, It had no problem computing for that distance. Please advise. thanks.
I'm having the same problem but I used gmaptool to combine the maps. I'll try to use mapsource. I'm still studying how it works though. When I import the maps I'm getting an error like the maps are not compatible or they are not mapsource maps. I'm using the latest mapsource software.
