    Thank you so much Luis. One question: Is this version in Spanish because the file name is in Spanish when I install it. I'm pretty new and limited with this stuff still.....I don't think I can "test" the map because I'm in the USA. Thanks again, and please do advise. (this was a reply to post #80...still learning....sorry....)....

    Yes you can test it. Assuming you have a recent Nuvi, do this: From 'Where To? View Map' page, Press Tools>Setting>System>GPS Simulator, and select 'On' then 'OK', 'OK'. Press and hold return arrow to return to original page. Press 'Where To?', Then (for example) press 'Cities', Type (for example) 'San Jose'> Done> select 'San Jose, San Jose' at the list> Set Location. Press and hold the return arrow. Repeat the procedure this time for the city 'Heredia' for example, but this time, press 'Go!'. Press 'Yes' on 'Simulate driving this route?'. You can scroll thru the route by pressing the turn indicator in top LH corner.

    Some Nuvis you have to press 'Map', then 'Set Loc' to set the location after making a selection.

    Although this is a Spanish map, you will get navigation in English if you have an English voice selected.

    Thank you so much for educating me about this feature of this GPS device. Another question for you, please: Where do I place the Points of Interest file..... the .gpi file??? Thanks so much.

    Wait! I kinda sorta figured that out. Where I am the most confused is how to use the SD card as the place to keep my map. Do I simply establish a MAP file on the micro SD and place the two files in it.....the .gpi file and the GMAPSUPP.IMG in there?

    To further muck up the board (I do apologize)...I had acquired the NavSat map which was clearly labled Costa Rica 6.0. This map is called Cr_2012_05_02_navegacion. Is that because the first map I discovered was an English map to begin with? Thank you for helping me learn ..... particularly use of that SD card (I am advised that although you can STORE a couple of maps on the SD, you can only USE one at a time. Can't figure out how to do that! Thank you so much.

    Placing your POI files see post # 7 by catymag. Place your gmapsupp.img file in your map folder in SD card. Depending on the model of Garmin you have, some of the older ones only handle one map, newer models will handle multiple maps but you need to change the name (gmapsupp) to another name such as CostaRica.img in your map folder. I can not do this successfully through my garmin unit but works if I do this with a SD reader then put the SD card back into the garmin unit..

    @axxxtw
    In addition to and in clarification of the above reply: It's helpful if we know the unit model you're using. Some Nuvis handle 2 maps in Garmin folder of sd card (with recent fw), as gmapsupp.img and gmapsup1 img (eg 2xx, 7xx). Some only handle gmapsupp.img in Garmin folder. Modern Nuvi (eg 1xxx, 2xxx, 3xxx, 30/40/50 series) can handle multiple maps with 'anyname'.img in a folder named Map in root of either unit or sd.

    Oh, I'm sorry! I'm using the Nuvi 1300. It is so refreshing to not be handled as a "nube" with these basic questions. I suspect I'm trying to do something that can't be done. Here's the scenerio: I have both version 6.0 and 6.1 of the NavSat map. I have version 6.0 as GMAPSUPP.IMG in the map folder on the Nuvi 1300 and it shows and works just fine. I have version 6.1 in the map folder on the micro SD card as GMAPSUPP.IMG. However, only one map shows when I check to see which maps I have. Is the "non showing" of the SD card map due to the file structure and similarity with the GMAPSUPP.IMG file on the Nuvi 1300 hard drive??

    Cant have 2 routable maps covering the same area at the same time, nuvi wont show or will show badly, and in Map (M capital letter)folder in SD use anyname.img (eg. Navsat.img) ,not gmapsupp.img:
    SD/Map/Navsat.img

    Catymag.....thanks so much for the ever so prompt replies. I apologize for being so "blonde", although I am trying and thanks to the group LEARNING. Still want to be certain for the correct placement for the .gpi file when using the SD micro disk and alsow having the map on the actual drive of the Garmin (Nuvi 1300 is a mere 2gig...imagine that....)....
