the map in mapsource had a restricted small window size and printing was disabled
Which is the patched one supplied?

I've downloaded mapsource patch and when I try to install it states topo gb v2 is not installed properly,uninstall and redo again.I've done that and tried the mapsource patch again and the same warning pops up.
Have I done something wrong or any ideas?

I have a Garmin GPSmap78S, will this version work on that unit?
@Scubades
Yes, it should work well with GB TOPO v2 on a GPSMAP 78s.

Mind my stupid question: I have downloaded it, installed it and unlocked it for usage with mapsource. How can I transfer it into the SD card for use in my Oregon 450? there is no single gmapsupp.img file? All I found is a directory under the c:\garmin folder called topogb2 with many files. please help, and again I apologize for my gross ignorance. TIA
Connect your gps to the computer with usb.
Select the parts of the map you want to transfer with the "select" tool in Mapsource.
Click the transfer to gps icon in Mapsource, select internal memory or sd card and there you go.
Remember that the existing map in the gps can be overwritten, backup before to be on the safe side.
And best of all: there are some great tutorials in this forum, check the sticky threads!
