Looking for a GPS to use on a my Snowmobile.

I Have been Using Nuvi Models on my Snowmobiles for Years, Last 3 seasons have switched to Nuvi 1490 5" or 2595 5" is on my sled at Present,running Trakmaps NB . a couple diff mount options, for me depends what sled i'm running. Last year was BRP 1200, the suction cup mount works Best directly above the Guage cluster with a couple small self tapping screws through the Base. This year i am Running yamaha Nytro and have made a 2" by 4" aluminum plate with 4 predrilled holes, this is Mounted on the handlebar Riser with Cover removed, and my Garmin Cradle stuck to it with RTV sealant, i've got 1000 km on so far, its Perfect with the Added Universal Sunshield and looks Great.

I hear a lot of people running the Nuvi on sleds with out an issue, Some use a little silicon to seal it up. Ill see how it holds up, I dont have a lot of money in it.

My friend uses Nuvi 205 on his bike for many years. Even the shower is not the problem. The transparent stationery tape and a pair of plastic cable ties do not let him down. The old Garmin devices are hardy as a cat! Only freezing but it is problem of all technical devices. Pocket in my bosom area is only way if you do not have a busty women is sitting behind :)

The price is key. Used Nuvi 205 costs a 5-10 USD for now!!!

So the 205W I plan to power off the Cigarette aux port on my two stroke snowmobile using a USB adapter, Any issue with that? I picked up a few different mounts to see what set up I like better. Any tips on setting the unit up? Do I need to or should I update the factory Maps along with adding a Trail map? The maps are quite all that are installed in the nuvi. Thanks

I made out well, I tried them out this weekend and all seems well at the moment, i just need to figure out a few options like marking my current location so I can get back there and a few other things. I am using GPSTrailmasters and it seems like a nice program ad I believe they do Maine also.

Joey G i have been using Nuvi's on my sleds for about 6 years now, my Fav model to date would be the Nuvi 2555 LM you can pick a unit up off Fleabay for $25 US, run a direct connection to your Battery, don,t run it off your Acc Plug, its Hard on the Stator, I run mine through a 3 terminal Lighted toggle switch, and only turn it off at the end of the day, or end of Ride. I have a few sled maps, depending on what part of the world you are in. Feel free to Msg me for more Info on setting up a Unit. Sorry don,t see how to rotate photo,,,

This is the first I am seeing that it is hard on Stator, this was one thing I was worried about. How do you have it hooked to the battery? I am using Trailmaster GPS maps and they seem to be working good so far.
