Setup OziExplorer properly and it will work.
If you use MapSource just plug in the Etrex do nothing to the GPS.
Start MapSource and tap on Transfer pick From device

Try different cables and do not change any settings
I connected various cables. I connected four different devices-Oregon 450,Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx,Montana 650,Etrex Legend Hcx.MapSource,Ozi Explorer,EasyGPX -show all the devices except Etrex Legend. The problem is in the device, not in the program or cable.
Then uninstall the USB drive and get the latest version from Garmin Support website
USB Drivers software version 2.3.1.2
Notes:
This setup will install / pre-load all Garmin USB Drivers on your system and upgrade older versions if found.
These drivers are designed for use with those GPS units that support USB transfer of data to/from the PC - not to include the iQue. This setup also includes the drivers for the USB Data Card Programmer.
This setup combines the initial install and updates for both the USB GPS drivers and the USB Data Card Programmer drivers.
Garmin GPS USB Drivers support Windows XP 64-bit, Vista 64-bit, and Windows 7 64-bit.
Garmin GPS USB Drivers have passed the Microsoft Logo Certification testing (Winqual) for all OS's up to and including Windows 7 x64
Simplified user interface.
.NET framework 3.5 SP1 is required. A current version of .NET will be installed if needed.
Windows Media Player 11 or greater is required (a free download from Microsoft).
As I do not know what version of Windows you are using.......
This should work on Windows 10
Try it:
Code:OK, solved it now. The SD card needed reformatting. It appeared not to as I could still upload/download files to/from it, but as soon as I reformatted it MapSource was able to recognise it and I was able to upload my routes and tracks. Just redownloading my maps now.

That is what the message is telling you that you did something wrong !!!!!!!!
DO NOT Change any SETTING on YOUR etrex
Just plug the eTrex in via USB and do nothing on it.
All the work is done on the software be it what ever software you are using.
There is no joy stick to be moved just leave the eTrex alone
I have just noticed the second Pic of mine "that you may need to Tick the Garmin USB box"
My unit is RS232 with an "RS232 to USB adapter"
You really need to slow down a bit and really look at what you are doing with Software, I have had that situation from Peps, so look carefully before you say it doesn't work.
Mags
ASPRIN,Magnetron-many thanks for the teaching and the time spent on me. I was wrong.I downloaded the points.
