Default Need power cord support to prevent usb port from breaking again

The usb ports on both my 2595LMT and 1450LMT gps's broke. My 1450LMT was out of warranty so I bought the 2595LMT which Garmin is now repairing. I want to prevent the usb port on my repaired 2595LMT from breaking again. Is there any kind of power cord bracket or whatever available that supports the power cord and takes tension off the usb port? If nothing is available then I may resort to using a heavy duty rubber band, but that will block a part of the screen. Thanks for any replies.

A loose USB port at the rear of a nüvi is almost always the result of briefly pulling the power cable. The force exerted by the cable on the USB port causes the post to become partially detached from the PCB (printed circuit board) inside the nüvi. It can easily be prevented. This is how I have secured the power cable to a nüvi 1440 some time ago on request by a friend who had experienced a loose USB port once before:

Disadvantage is that the power cable can not physically be detached from the nüvi anymore and will stay with it. If that is no problem, than this solution may be what you're looking for. All you need to do is carefully open up the nüvi, remove the PCB and drill two small holes in the rear cover at the right spot so the ty-wrap will fit through.

If you need any guidance opening up and dismantling the nüvi, let us know. It's not difficult. It just needs care. There are many video clips on YouTube also that can be of help. Just post back if you have any questions. Better safe than sorry!
