Default Where can I get replacement files?

Is it possible to download (or buy) replacement files for a Garmin Nuvi 200? if so, Where?

I was downloading/updating maps on my unit and I got a message telling me that I didn't have enough space on my SD card, so I (in retrospect foolishly) deleted some files, now my unit refuses to work.

My PC can see my unit, and the remaining files on the unit. All I'm looking for are replacements for the original files so I can get my Sat Nav working again.

If the unit can be seen in Mass Storage Mode by PC it isn't 'bricked' at least.

What exactly have you deleted? Garmin Express or WebUpdater can replace many files such as text, keyboard, voices and vehicles etc but it should still start and work even without such files. I and other members also have backups of folders and files for many units including nuvi 2x0, but the big concern at present is why it 'won't work' which i assume means it can't boot. From memory, 2xx won't boot without at least an empty Garmin folder on board so if you've deleted that create one in the root and try again. [x:\Garmin]

What were you doing when you noticed the message about shortage of space on the SD card? To my knowledge the nüvi 200 won't display any such message. Your computer possibly, depending on what you were trying to achieve. Whatever files you deleted from the SD card, the operation of the nüvi should not be affected.

The below screenshots are taken from a nüvi 200W, but apart from the window size should be identical to the ones you can see on a nüvi 200.

If you see this message, you may ignore it. Has to do with the internal memory of the nüvi. Your unit will continue to work fine. If the message disturbs you, reset the nüvi to factory default and the message won't be shown anymore. Backup personal settings first (e.g. with Garmin Express) as you will lose those.

If there's no longer any map available, this could be a reason the unit stays on the above screen (notice the absence of an OK button). It would therefore be interesting if the OP could clarify what is meant by:

What exactly does the unit do when switched on and what does it not do (anymore) at which point?

Did you try with GarminExpres (Or regular Updater)? Once, couple years ago, I've also deleted half of software on device. I've downloaded most of files from forum, the rest recover with Garmin Updater. In worst case, you can reflash unit.

O.K.first of all, many thanks for your replies, but I think I may have used the wrong wording in my initial question.

When I said my Nuvi 200 no longer worked, I meant it is no longer capable of directing me to turn left or right or whatever. My unit works, in your terminology, in so far as it switches on and powers up, but it only gets so far, until it displays a screen saying "No detailed maps found that support routing. The nuvi cannot be used without them."

I can't remember which file(s) I deleted, it happened a number of months ago.

Some units simply won't route without a detail map in the internal memory as said by Smokefree, even though you may have a perfectly usable detail map on an inserted SD card. Easy fix is to put a tiny map on the unit, even one you might not need. If you want to try, unrar this rar file to get gmapprom.img into the unit's Garmin folder:
    Spoiler:

It's only 37 KiB in size extracted so won't take up much room on the unit.

Put your UK/EU mapping on an SD card as x:\Garmin\gmapsupp.img.
