    Default Nuvi 2699

    Hi All

    Need some help please,

I'm downloading the City Navigator North America NT 2016 (lower 49) from the Garmin website,
But this comes bare with no additional files, so no Junction View etc.
I have been told by a good source that this can be added afterwards (downloaded from GPS power and added to SD Card)

Read this link for more info. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

That all said being new to this unit I don't know what files I should be adding as there are quite a few different JVC files,
also I'm sure there are additional US foursquare files for extra POI can any one point me towards these,
and not sure what other files can be added.

Lastly just to share this info, I would gather the above would cover all Nuvi 2*99, 2*89,
(if I'm wrong someone will say

    Many thanks

For JCV take 'D3191170B.jcv - SplitScreen Full version Nuvi 24xx 25xx' from initial post, SID files from second post and SQLite from third post of [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. I've explained previously about the ASR files, but they aren't posted in the 'revision' map thread so if you want Voice Command fully functional you'll need to try the ASR'2' files [for 3490] from P#52 the previous map thread: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Ditto for D4919050A.img Foursquare map from the initial post there as they haven't been posted in the later revision thread either. Might work with the revision map.

Sorry to be a pain just trying to make sense of the nuvi 2699 files system, is this correct below.
also when I connect my unit to the PC cant find the map image anywhere (no system files showing) I've got show hidden file etc.
no problem with my old unit 1490 and also with my old unit I did a full copy of file just in case it went down I could reinstall but cant seem to copy
the massive 7gb only supplementary folders and file.

    Nuvi 2699 files system

    All Maps Files = .IMG
    Junction View Files = .JCV
    Search Files (Sid) = .SID
    Foursquare (SQLight) = .IMG

UPDATE: just found this on the forum -- Setting new NUVI's to Mass Storage device - [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Yes, the 2699 like all similar modern garmins uses MTP [Media Transfer Protocol] by default.
