Bah that msall splitscreen doesn't work at all, I put the large fullscreen back on, 3/4 of a screen draw is better than no map and stuttering!

Odd! The small split works best of all with my AU map. I find it pretty useless, but only because it's got bu*ger-all views. The Western nuvi xx/SP app JCV file construction is in fact not very dissimilar to the Asian JCV file's construction which is why it's generally more 'compatible' than the other Western style split and fullscreen when used with Asian firmwares. Expert explanation here by syzygy: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Images from my 765 SG using the small splitscreen file:

As you can see from the 2nd image the preview is cr@ppy though, but at least the nav screen displays nicely.

My garmin refused to draw the map at all the entire time I was on I-ten east. Luckily the talking still worked. Giving serious thought to going back to the US firmware.

    Oh, and I'm back.

That tool, it's just for asian jcv files right? Or could I drag the small splitscreen jcv file onto that tool and see if that makes any difference?

Yes, Garmin Asian Tool is only to replace the layer for the pointer in Asian files, don't try to use Western type files with it. I only gave you the link to syzygy's post for his excellent explanation about the different types of jcv files.

If you convert back, make sure you hard reset both before and after flashing US/EU V4.50.

If you're referring to the GarminDevice.xml file it doesn't matter what you alter/edit in it, the unit always writes the correct info to it as soon as it reboots. My earlier reference about changing the HWID and software version in the xml file was to obtain Asian related files and if you re-read my post #50 you'll see it says not to let it reboot first. Have a look at the xml now and after you flash it again and you'll see. Only the Garmin helper software programs like GE, WU & MU will read the xml and the device itself only writes to it.

To flash back to US/EU, just do the same as what you did to flash to SG/MY. This time, remove your existing Asian-related ExtData, Help, RemoteSW etc and replace them with the US files/folders which you should still have in the folder 'US_files' as per post #32. Backup region 41 again and hard reset of course, do both of them before and after flashing.

I'm going to hard reset my device and head out on the highway again, maybe it will start drawing the split screen map like it should. It didn't at all which is why I used the big full, which showed the fullscreen beautifuly, and then went back to the regular map at 75% of the screen. No idea why it's not working like yours is.

Dunno why, maybe the relative size of the AU & NA JCV files have some effect.
