Is sd formatted FAT32 ?
IMG with FID greater than 2200 needs to be unlocked with an unlocker.(gimgunlock)
.unl is not enough, you'd need .gma file too.
Routable maps covering the same area cant be selected at the same time in the same profile in 62. Just one will show. In 62 topo maps in recreational profile cover CN map.
You cant load 2 CNA, different or same version, at the same time.
Do you get any error starting 62?

Garmin 62st cannot read any maps from the sd card
My friend bought a Garmin 62st and I tried to load City Navigator and 24K topo west maps onto a 16 GB micro sd card so that he could use it. The City navigator and the 24K west maps are in img format and they have different file names like cn_us.img & topo_24.img. I also have a combined map of City Navigator & 24K west which I renamed to gmapsupp.img. So I basically loaded all 3 files to the 16 GB sd card using a card reader and placed them in the Garmin folder on the sd card. I also have a gmapsupp.unl file that has the unlock code to unlock the City Navigator map.
So when I inserted the sd card and booted the 62st, I wanted to enable to combined joint map which I already named gmapsupp.img. However when I go to Maps, and select Menu to see the maps, I only see the maps that came pre-installed in the internal memory of the device. I do not see my gmapsup.img or the cn_us or the topo_24 maps from the sd card.
So I am hoping to find out what am I doing wrong here. Thanks in advance.

Yes the IMG files are under Garmin folder. No I didn't format the flash drive to FAT32. I will do that. I didn't know that it needs a gma file too. What should be inside the gma file ? The FID is 450 I think but I will double check. I haven't gotten any error when starting the 62.

Don't worry about .GMA file or .unl file
Just unlock the maps with gimgunlock.exe
Start with one map at a time.
Maybe the unit is not seeing the SD card, Try another small SD card 1 gb or 2 gb (FAT32).(Just to start)The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.
