Default South Korean road maps for A Garmin Zumo 660 ?

I an totally new to this so please try and be patient!

I am an Englishman living in South Korea. Last year I went on a motorbike holiday to California and I bought a Garmin Zumo 660 which worked great!

I have now bought a motorbike here in South Korea and would very much like to download detailed maps ( Motor Bike friendly if possible ) for South Korea ? I have looked on Garmins site and they do not cover SK? Can I get good maps from another site that will work on the 660? If so, can yous suggests some good sites and explain how I do this ? I have just today connected the 660 to the internet using Garmin Express and updated Firmware and application software!

Just one other question! The ON / OFF switch on the 660 just fell off. It looks a bit Micky mouse to me to e honest the way it attaches to the unit with a hair spring? I managed to reassemble it to the unit but the spring has weakened and is slightly over sized such that it will not clamp over the mail part in the unit! I don't suppose anyone knows of a repair center / parts center in South Korea or maybe asia where I can either get this repaired or, if not purchase a replacement spring and try and repair myself ?

    Many thanks and regards

    Alan

Open Street Maps are are good free alternative in many parts of the world if the Garmin map's not up to scratch or non-existent:

I've no idea how good they are for South Korea though .....

I hope you bought it new. Garmin's warranty is worldwide for 12 months after purchase. A problem may arise if you take it to a Garmin agent/retailer in Korea, 'cos they probably won't want to know about it. The Asian service centre is in Taiwan, but you might want to start with Korea:

Best to google/bing search for 'Garmin OSM maps download help' or 'How to download OSM map for Garmin', you'll get plenty of hits.

As to how to load the map image file to your zumo, easiest and safest is to put it on an sd in a Garmin folder named gmapsupp.img. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    Hi Alan,

I was living in SK until a couple months ago and I might help you with the map since I have the 2013 however I am new here and I don't know well how to upload it.
Perhaps there is someone who can help with the upload instructions.

    Ged.

    Many thanks Catymag....

Ged, thank you also for your reply! So, are you SKn or Spanish ? Anyways, so you have the maps for SK ? Will you try and upload them with the help of the post from Catymag ? If you could that would be great. I am new here also!

    cheers

    Alan
