"Who was the poster of this map? If is pietu you can be sure are correctly unlocked. "
I downloaded it from here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]
But I really don't think the problem lies with the img file. I just downloaded another map that is working fine for Tiger555 who has the exact same device as me.
I copied it to the SD with the same negative result.
I'm gonna try it on the device itself next (it's a small file so there is room) but it's taking a long time to transfer.

Ok so my device still doesn't see the latest img file on the SD card.
I've now copied it to the GPS. It's still named gmapsupp.img and the device still doesn't see it.
So I guess my next step is to rename or remove my current 2012 gmapprom.img file and rename the new file, gmapprom.img
But which of the other files need to be removed/renamed
I'm assuming gmap3d.img, gmap3d.sum
But what about gmapbmap.img & gmapbmap.sum
gmapprom.gma, gmapprom.sum, gmapprom.unl
gmaptz.img, gmaptz.sum
Sorry for all these questions, appreciate all your help.

.sum files are mapupdate related, can be deleted.
if the gmapprom.img and gmapsupp.img cover the same area nuvi wont see one of these maps.
You cant have the same City Navigator maps even if they are different versions at the same time in device.
gmapbmap.img is your basemap, don't delete.
gmap3d.img is 3D buildings map and must be the same version of your CN to show up and must be unlocked.
gmapprom.gma, gmapprom.unl are your preloaded map unlock codes, backup them in pc and remove them along the gmapprom.img

Thanks everyone... but I officially give up (well for tonight anyway)
I moved all the existing files, as mentioned above, into a backup folder.
I renamed the TESTED AND WORKING img file to gmapprom.img
Powered up the GPS and.... nothing. It sees no map at all.
All I see on the screen is a small c copyright symbol. No map listing at all.
When I actually view the map it's just the basemap.
So it's not the img file, it's not the SD card... there's something evil about my GPS!!!
I gotta run but if anyone has any ideas please post them here and I'll maybe give it one more shot tomorrow before conceding defeat.

If you haven't already tried resetting it best do that. Back up all other files on the unit. With it off, press and hold the RH lower corner of the screen and turn it on. Follow the prompt to erase all user data.

Just tried a reset. Still doesn't see the map.
I'm returning everything back the way it was.
I guess I'll have to do some more research on how to unlock and build my own img file and try that.
