Question Small map creation - BeNeLux and Germany for Garmin nüvi 200 device

I've been trying to grab some facts left and right on the forum and I have succeeded in making a relatively small 600MB map but is seems that I'm doing something wrong because when I want to navigate to a city it insists on asking me to input a province. Which it chooses not to recognise...

Please follow my steps and tell me what I am doing wrong.
I started out with the downloaded .img of CN Europe NTU 2015.10 West & Central_Unlocked.

Using GMapTool I've split the map into 296 .img files, and one file of the following types: .TRF, TYP and a MPS file.
Then, I've been joining all image files containing Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg and Germany.
Producing a gmapsupp.img which I then put this on a sd card in a Garmin directory.

It looked like it's working but it keeps on asking for the province when I want to input a city and an address.
I've been adding and deleting the .TRF, .TYP and .MPS file but that hasn't made a difference that I noted.

Am I doing something basically wrong, am I using the wrong program or an incorrect base file?
Or is the 200 too old a device with its 500 MB internal memory and a sd card?
    Your comments, please. Thanks !

The only comment I can do is this: download pc version install it and unlock it
You'll have it in Basecamp, send the regions you need to your device with Mapinstall.
Don't use Mapsource because IMGs created with new CNs can have routing problems in devices. Mapsource is discontinued.
All other options are wrong and will give bad results.

Correct procedure for splitting an img for Mapsource here:

But Gmaptool cant create a valid MDR files for Mapsource so every Gmaptool processed img wont have address search enabled.

You have to navigate to get to the good.

    Thanks, Caty !
I should download pc version of what? CN Europe NT 2015.10? Where should I get that?
Here? ---> [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]*

And Mapinstall is an option within Basecamp?
ah wait, tut here? [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Such a shame, it looked like I was doing a great cook with Gmaptool but it was poisened from the start.

Lawdy lawdy, I feel like such an incredible newbie again, like I was last year with TT...

Anyway, for the moment (!) I took the easy way out and downloaded 2014.40 Benelux.
    Plain vanilla.

I do want to try more elaborate flavours in the future.

    * Sorry for posting outside link...

Okay, I got above mentioned download CNEU 2015.10 pc install.rar and a Garmin Nüvi 1490.

The download contains the folowing files in rootfolder:
    City Navigator Europe NTU 2015.10.gmap
    Disk_32.cab and disk_64.cab
    Disk1.cab
    CityNavigatorEuropeNTU2015.10update.msi
    USB_32.msi and USB_64.msi

So I have been squirrying through the pages on this sight but as I don't know that much of the Garmin lingo I am at a loss about my next step to produce a custom map which I can put on the device.
A lot of possible programs, several of which are outdated. Do I need to unlock, do I need a code, do I need to *****?

I should uncompress the download and install it? Using which .msi?

Then, which program should I use to get my 'own' custom map as a gmapprom.img (or gmapsupp.img)?
Which steps should I take to get it working on the device?
Does it take a lot of work, say for a map of 2 GB?

Hey, maybe I just overlooked the most perfect tut. Might well be. Thanks and regards
