Do you have nuvi 1690 EU or NA?
This look that you have broken resources.bin in your FW.
Open garmindevice.xml and see what HWID do you have writen, if you have 1132 then you have EU FW.
Hi
The Hwid is 1132...........

Guys, this is getting a little convoluted because he has TWO faulty units: a 1690 that shuts off when 'System' is selected, and a 1695 which has the stuck on logo problem. Best start using quotes in replies especially when following a post about the other unit. mallard2 is obviously all ok with it, but it's maybe confusing for other readers. :question:Quote:

On what nuvi do you have white lines contain "image not found "?
Is this nuvi 1690 or 1695?
Hi,
it was the 1695 ,
However it's now sorted ..........
Thanks to all for their help , especially Neil
Hi ,
any more thoughts on my 1690 that switches off when "system" icon pressed
After the success with the 1695 , I'm Raring to go .......!!
Well, you could try to cure it too [it can't hurt it anyway]. The full fw is available here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...].
But before you do, back it up, format it with RMPrepUSB, create a Garmin folder and boot it to see if it makes any difference. If not, use Cure3. I think one or the other should work.
If still no go, try my suggestion from Post #6 of removing the battery for a while. You can google for opening guide, it's quite dissimilar to other 1xxx units. That's often used as a method of last resort for 'dead' units, and it just might work to completely drain all power from the unit .... worked for this guy just now: [Only registered and activated users can see links. OK, will give all the suggestions a go..............
Will let you know what develops
Hi Neil,
Tried all the suggestions in several different combinations , but now it just sticks on the "Garmin " logo screen ,laughing at me !!
The only thing available to me is to cure it so as to enter PC mode & that's it !
Just for future reference , whats the function, relevence & difference between
regionfileonly GCD
GCDfileonly.GCD
Boot.bin
Anywhere I can read up on the above ??
Regards
