Microsoft yesterday announced that they are buying Mobile Phones Division of Nokia.
The price is about 7,2 billion USD.

The rumors says that Elop will replace Ballmer.
The next step is NAVTEQ, don't you think?

Elop finally completed his "trojan horse" job: after destroying Nokia, M$ could buy it easily.

Do you know Elop’s wife and kids never actually left Redmond when he took the job in Finland?

Now must see if MS will let Nokia renew the Navteq agreement with Garmin, actually MS has Navteq license but Here division has been kept by Nokia.
Garmin agreement with Navteq will last until 2015.
It seemed to me incredible Garmin did not have a strategic interest in acquiring a mapping company, instead of buying other stuffs.
Garmin had in the past several options. It could bid for Navteq, bid for TeleAtlas. But nothing.
I hope they worked with Nokia/Navteq to strengthen guarantees in existing contracts, another option was to look to be acquired by someone else! For example Microsoft.

If someone buys Garmin I won't buy its products any more. I promise. Garmin is not for sale. I think when one company buys another the other loses its identity. Just like the case with MS and Nokia. I think many true fens of Nokia will be disappointed and would be pushed back. I was really surprised when I first read about MS acquiring Nokia first here. This was what lacked MS of really competing with Apple and Samsung - hardware. Now nothing stoppes them to port the whole Windows OS to a smartphones/tables. Will see...Regarding Nokia Here and the navigation part I think Nokia don't understand anything from navigation.

    Depend...

You know Fiat and/or Ferrari? Yes? Fiat is the owner of Ferrari (largest shareholder)...but do you think someone identifies Ferrari with Fiat or/and viceversa?

    Depend on leaders/managers....

Maybe Garmin will remain just Garmin...

    Bye,bye

When one company buy another is not always good thing.

    For example: Garmin buy Navigon.
If you ask Garmin about street pilot for Android they tell you "you have Navigon for android, this is Garmin ".
If i like Navigon interface then i will buy Navigon not Garmin device, but i like Garmin interface

When Garmin buy Navigon they start to port Navigon feature to Garmin device ( 2013 series ),this will be good if all will work ok, but with this Garmin create a lot of new bug to FW.

But the number one fail for Garmin is Garmin express.

If MS will port the whole Windows OS to a smartphones/tables they will fail, becouse nobody will buy it.
Next year MS release win9 and win 10 will be in cloud, so this is The End of MS.
If you wish, you can [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

MS "buy" all Nokia! And engineering staff too. Lumia have a great success like Asha model. But Nokia was in deep out of marketing. I think MS know how to attract of developer and Nokia technology is very big a bit of a help in it. If MS will be able to launch carousel of application development like Android or iDevice then no doubt even Garmin would be forced to use WIN9 for each application in first order!
Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?
