Hi everybody,
A few days ago I have refreshed my Garmin portfolio with a Nuvi 3597 LMTHD navigator.
Trying to play around with files I have noticed that I cann't see in which folders are the maps, jcv, 3d maps, etc.
Usually in my previous unit all these type of files had a directory: System, JCV, etc.
Here I do not see anything. I have enabled folder views, but I still cannot see where are the maps.
Any suggestion is welcomed.
One more thing..... your stuff is in ".System"
The new 2012 models are MTP Devices.
That is why when you conect them to your PC they donīt show the hidden ".System Folder" and are not recognized by Mapsource.
The solution:
What you have to do is....
1) In the 'Where To?' window press 'Volume'
2) Press the upper right corner of the screen a few seconds until you get an auxiliary (hidden) menu.
3) Scroll to and press 'MTP Settings'.
4) Change from 'MTP Auto Detect' to 'Mass Storage'.
5) Press 'Save'.
Go to MTP Setting and choose Mass Storage OR Mass Storge Single Session.
Conecte the GPS to computer and now it shows up in My Computer as a removable disk and everything is accesible as usual. Including useing it in Mapsource.
If you set to Single Session in next boot mapsource and Pc don't see your device.
If you set to mass storage all be visible all the time, but if you do hard reset you must again set to mass storage.
So better way is set to mass storage
