Default Cyclops camera info on a US model Nuvi 42

    Hi Merry Map Makers

I am trying to put Cyclops camera info on to a US model Nuvi 42 for use in UK and Europe.

Garmin have introduced a custom poi system that uses 2 file formats (csv and gpx?? getting old with poor memory) that are not the same as the cyclops data supplied on this site which is .gpi.

I have searched this site and can't find any help, nothing in tutorials , surely I can't be the first to come up against this problem can I ???

Any offers of help and guidance will be gratefully received.

I just suppose this is just Garmin trying to stop people not paying them.

I have the latest Cyclops data in GPI form but the "Custom POI tool" that Garmin makes you use to load the Nuvi 42 wont take GPI data it will only take CSV or GPX ?? if memory serves, and that is my problem, I don't know how to convert it to the required format, if indeed that is what you have to do ??

Thank you for your kind offer.

You have to convert csv format with poiloader garmin downloaded from the website, make a folder in your desktop with all the CSV file, and then later convert with Poi Loader, he creates a single file GPI that will copy GPI inside the garmin POI folder

Cyclops files can not be converted they are encrypted so no converter can read them

The US model Nuvi 42 does not have a POI folder in its as supplied file structure, I have tried to just add a POI folder with .gpi data and it was not recognised.
Garmin make you use a custom poi loader, which I believe creates and activates the poi folder in the file structure.
