Default Help with garmin bluechart vision on sd card

hello, iv got a garmin 420s and im trying to load up the g2 vision map for st.lawrence river, I purchased a new boat and must take it 100 miles up river so this would really help....... I attached some pictures just so someone could verify iv done things correctly, the problem I am having is when I put the card in my gps nothing happens! I thought I did things correctly, I downloaded the files ran them through an unlocking program, created a file called Garmin on an sd card (sdhc actually if that matters) then copyed the file in the folder on the card!!!! any information or thoughts would be very appreciated! iv gotta bring this boat up river soon so id like to have this working! thanks, Mike! Be sure 420s firmware is up to date or may be it cant recognize sdhc .
Have you formatted it as fat32 ? How big is that card? Some plotters have problems in reading big size sd.
Better to use normal and cheap 2gb sd.
Your map is copied ok in a Garmin folder, Check with Gmaptool in Details log if it's properly unlocked.
If it's locked you'll see this in log:

yes lol, update its software, it's too old now is GPSMAP 420/420S software version 5.60 :
in even old sw 4.00 in changelog is written: Added support for SDHC cards, which have capacities greater than 2GB.
Edit: additionally some new BC are not supported by old firmwares. Read all the changelogs, many features added and many bugs corrected .

alright I will try that, and thank you! where would be the best place to find an update? garmin website?..... I would have to install the update on a an sd card and put it in the gps. will it automatically update once the cards in or is there some other method? also you mentioned that the software I have wont support sdhc, all I have is sdhc cards so im gonna guess putting the update on an sdhc card the gps still wouldt recognize the update? or am I mistaken?

    Go here
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
click on your device version (I guess the third one, but you must check)
then see if your model is listed , download, look at linked "View installation instructions and system requirements" and update your device.
I guess it's mandatory a 2 gb normal sd to update firmware , so buy it, then you can use it for your new BC map

ok so I was able to update the software and that is working properly, it now reads that I have inserted the sd card with the g2 vision map I downloaded to it..... however I havnt been able to go any further from that point really, it says data card when entered, and gives me options like....save to card merge from card I clicking any of those is a dead end, then theres an option of copy basemap from card I belive it said, when I clikc that it loads and says basemap updated but nothing looks any different.......where do I go from here!!! and thanks again for all the help!!
