You guys--and gals--are the BEST and most knowledgeable support ever!! Really going out of your way to help someone in need--truly appreciate it, and really cool! There's no reason not to flash now but I'm still going to be doing some more reading...

[Edit] Flashed, tested, and all is working again--logo screen, power-on pic, and TTS! Again, you all are the BEST!!! [/Edit]

[Edit2] Just an FYI, the Inventory page now shows:

Splash D0825-15 2.10 Nuvi Splash Screen, WS, TTS + Pass [/Edit2]

That's the splash result which is shown in Inventory for a 255/265W. Out of interest, does it still identify as 200W on boot, or 2x5W now?

Still 200W... there's no indication anywhere that I could see it's otherwise. I was curious too...

Strange thing is that the size of your faulty logo.bin was 524288 bytes [512KB], and although containing only 'FF' matched exactly the size of a healthy 2xxW logo bin file. Is it possible a 2xxW logo was flashed at some time? That's why I wanted you to flash it to see what happened. Don't do it now though ....

It's quite possible, but it wasn't by me--intentionally or inadvertently. There are two possibilities that I can think of...

Just a brief history on this 200W, got it used for a relative. I'd updated everything and all was working when I gave it to him a couple of years ago. That's when I noticed that TTS and Speed Limits--features that are not characteristics of the 200W--were enabled after the software update. Recently, I picked up a used 1350 as an upgrade for his 200W. I reset, updated, and was preparing the 200W as an upgrade for an older 200 that I'd given a friend. This is when I noticed the startup pic issue.

First possibility is that the software update to version 7.60 somehow erased the splash. [Edit] Software update performed via the Garmin WebUpdater program running on a WinXP-SP3 PC. [/Edit]

Second possibility is that overheating of the unit somehow caused the splash to be erased. The reason why I speculated on this possibility is that when I pulled the SDcard that was in that 200W--a Sandisk 1GB--the plastic label showed signs of heat exposure--air bubbles/blisters all over it. My relative was not particularly meticulous in the care and use of this 200W so quite possible. However, if it was heat exposure, nothing else seemed to have been affected though, as the unit continued to function properly in all its navigational functions.

Anyway, both possibilities are just my thoughts and speculations...

Thanks Loly, i'm aware of this and now not even sure why i was asking him what it displayed. All conversions of 255W/265W HWID 0827 that i have done to 465 show the model on boot screen as 'nuvi 465' [regardless of logo used, either 2x5W or 465 which are different]. This is same with 40/50>42/52 [same logo], but of course that's different to 3790>3490 which still shows nuvi 3790 on boot even with 3490 logo and nuvi 2460>dezl560 which shows 'dezl 2460' [same logo]. All of which makes sense that the logo bin doesn't influence the model number display on the splash screen itself only what's written into the Inventory.

Unless somebody flashed the wrong logo [standard 2xxW @ 512 KB] to his unit, in factory kit his non-bog 200W must have had a modified 200W logo not a 2x5W which is 398 KB as you know.

    ..........
I think the answer is that because it had a logo bin of 512 KB in size then it was either as standard or someone had flashed a 2xxW to it as i've speculated above and it became corrupted.

Anyway, Loly has ably solved your problem with the modded 2x5W logo. The rest was just my idle curiosity.

LOL Loly, you are kind and modest as always. Thanks, but YOU were the one who helped him my friend. Sorry for OT, but sometimes they're necessary.
