    I like Trip Planner
Initially I had problems with it but now I actually use it quite successfully for Business (deliveries) and Vacation.
    Here are My Secrets.
Place Waypoints at the Places You want to actually STOP (deliveries) (stop at a particular restaurant for Lunch)
If you want to use a Waypoint as a SHAPING POINT place it at least 300 meters before or after the intersection or Roundabout.
This practice will give the trip planner the necessary time to calculate the next leg of the route.
Download ONLY Waypoints to the Nuvi but create the Trip on the Nuvi. Both Mapsource and Basecamp will give you unpredictable results.
The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.

I apologize if I left some features, for example traffic (useful for sure if providers offer a good service), but I could add just a 20 items in poll list.

I don't get the dislike of trip planner either - it was a big factor in me upgrading!

Most of the time I just give it a destination and either follow the directions or go my route and use it for the last mile or so. Sometimes I leave it on for miles to go/ETA on journeys I know or simply just to see if it routes me the way I would go based on knowing the roads. But for me, trip planner has a use. I got it to go on a road trip in the US this summer, and there are loads of places we know we want to stop to take a picture, specific places we want to stop and eat and certain roads we want to go on that the Garmin would not route us on.

I agree that it might have limited use for some - including me for a lot of the time, but I think it is a useful feature. One I was prepared to pay money for, and certainly one I'd hate to see be removed.

OK, maybe my brief comment 'Trip planner is a waste of space, but genuine routes is handy for some' was a little harsh without further explanation (i'm usually in strife for over-explaining things). I'm not a Trip Planner hater. My comment was in regard to it's questionable usefulness in advance planning and dasilvarsa's comment about MS and BC giving upredictable (read 'mostly useless' imo) results for actual planning before firing up the 'Trip Planner equipped Nuvi' is what i mean, because 'trips' does not equal 'routes'. I don't use these tools on a daily basis, but i agree that what davilvarsa uses 'trips' for is fine for those purposes and his great tip to use waypoints as shaping points is the way to do it imo. I think it's relative in that provided you haven't used Routes before then experiencing Trip Planner would be a revelation and most acceptable as Greekislandlover found. I agree with him that it should stay but if by a fw update it was removed and replaced with Routes i would applaude. Frankly, Garmin doing it the other way around was one step forward and two steps back imo. There's also Garmin's [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] which is worth looking at.

ALG is far more useful on a dezl for truckies than JCV for sure. This feature is on advanced and prestige 2113 nuvi line as well but maybe not as useful for car drivers. LA/ALG (even without JCV) is a better combination than just LA/JCV and more available anyway. A thumbs up from me. Of course if you're Giomen in his Maserati stuck in the leftmost lane and need to get into the far right lane in 1 Klick, you probably don't need it. Here's a video showing firstly LA & AGL and then the 3 working together on a 2797:

As Giomen has noticed, ALG on this video is wrong, it suggest that you have only one line to choose, while 2 lines are correct.

Other notice - while ALG can invoke some nice reminiscences to ZX Spectrum, its animation is completely useless, it doesn't give any more information than static LA. Or maybe Garmin expect, that when you notice approaching exit on far end of ALG you will stay watching animation for some seconds?

I do not understand a situation on screen even in home armchair on 19" monitor!
I think it may be very useful for famous Garmin charade only: Keep left! Then keep right! (Moving to one of middle exits). Usual JCV is useless in this case and only birdseye may give several instruction. But I would see if it is so for ALG...

Sorry, but i can't see that it is anything other that exemplary correct. Watch it again, at ~6 sec into the video the LA is warning that in 0.6 miles the vehicle needs to be in the inner (second) right lane of 5 lanes:

    alg06

Then an upcoming added left lane shows on the ALG, so the truck would correctly be in the far right lane of the presently 4 lanes which is about to become the inner (second) right of 5 lanes as was previously predicted by LA about half a mile back:

    alg27

Finally, at the end of the video, we can see that there are now five lanes of which the two right lanes can take the first exit but only the inner right can take the second exit which is the truck's route:

    alg41

........ Other notice - while ALG can invoke some nice reminiscences to ZX Spectrum, its animation is completely useless, it doesn't give any more information than static LA. So it does give more info than the static LA and in fact compliments, reinforces and builds on the LA info, and there's no need to stay watching, it lets you glance back and forth to quickly assess your position well in advance and so imo it's not useless, not completely or even slightly. It's a great tool for truckies stuck in the wrong lane in unfamiliar territory. Unknowing drivers may well move over immediately into the added right lane and be then be forced to exit one before the intended ramp. You can't duck around in a double-B or 22-wheeler semi like Giomen can in his Maserati.

@Giomen, did you mean leftmost (far left) lane? Or is that a typo and should be rightmost (far right). What would trucks be doing in the fast lane with the 'rabbits' anyway?? [I'm thinking the rabbits are 'lane-hoppers', maybe?].

I have the utmost respect for you two guys, but i think you've being perhaps a little too quick to judge this feature and particularly from the point of view of heavy vehicle drivers. It's more dismissible to car drivers perhaps as they can lane-hop more freely. This is a real benefit, not useless eye-candy as is JCV imo. I don't wish to offend anyone and i'll defend everybody's entitlement to an opposing opinion, but if you re-watch the video carefully imagining you're behind the wheel of even just a big rigid, you may see things a bit differently.

I was commenting your previous video. But it looks like ALG can't show more then single lane, it could be crowded
