Default Export of some features from Garmin Maps?

    Hi all,
Is there any way to export from the Garmin maps? What I'm interested is the clutter (land use) in cities for radio propagation purposes.
Industrial, residential areas, buildings, parks, water and shopping malls, as from the map, to be exported in a raster file that can be used in a radio planning tool.

DEM, or 3D buildings would be a dream...

    Forget about the Garmin DEM.

    Check this out:

With Global mapper you can even directly download Aster DEM. With GM you can simulate the distribution of the radio waves. I think I can make even an examplary screen shot.

On the left is 25km range, and the other two are on 5 km. With Global Mapper you can even set the height of the receiving antena and transmitting antena!

Thank you ddabcd277, Global Mapper indeed for DEM, I have used it before.
That clutter is giving me hard time. I took already with GM (Landsat7) good resolution land image; but it has all colours and shades(hundreds of them when exported); and I must edit it in few basic cluster classes...

sorry, I meant clutter classes, and as they appear on Garmin map would be perfect.

Not possible data from the garmin maps to be exported. Forget about it. Think for a different way. Google maps maybe? Sorry, I coudn't understand what is a "clutter class"?

I'm sure he means literally, the class (type) of the clutter as he quotes in Post #1 "Industrial, residential areas, buildings, parks, water and shopping malls" for instance, as in 'Land Use Classifications'.

Thanks Neil. I get what the guy needs. In general this data is very expensive. And is for specific usage. He needs DSM, not DEM from the cities. With it he can simulate the radio waves spreading in the cities.

    DSM:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    DEM:
    DEM Module

There are some SDK and API of the Navteq maps but I am not aware of their usage.
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Also there is Google Maps APis,SDKs...
