Default Maximum mapping segments for Montana

    Hi,

Montana is supposed to display up to 4000 mapping segments.
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
Into internal memory, I put Topo France v3 (3,5 Go and 651 mapping segments).
On a 8 Gb microSD card, I put Topo US 24 K Northeast (3,5 Go and 1059 mapping segments) and Topo US 24 K South Central (3 Go and 1008 mapping segments).
So that I have approximatively 2700 mapping segments on my Montana, far less than 4000.
The thing is that when I switch on Montana, only Topo France and Topo US Northeast are displayed.
    What's up ? Any ideas ?

More detail is needed where you put maps on SD and with which file names. May be somebody was wrong in that...

Both Topo US 24K maps were put in a garmin folder on 8 Gb microSD.
What do you mean when you say "May be somebody was wrong in that........." ?

Wrong folders, wrong names, wrong unlocks and so on...

Do you try temporary disable Topo US 24 K Northeast map by renaming extension from img to bak and check if all is OK with South Central?

    Yes.
The .img was generated from unlocked map installed in MapSource, as Northeast was.

Do you have by chance a preloaded map like Recreational map in Montana ?
    Limit is 4000 :Basemap+preloaded map+user's added maps=max 4XXX (4096? 4k ?)

No, I got rid of this unuseful recreational map a long time ago !
I think there must be an incompatibility between both US Topo Maps : when I removed Topo US 24 K Northeast from Garmin folder on SD card, Topo US 24 K South Central was displayed.
Furthermore I did the following experiment : I replaced the 1008 mapping segments from South Central with 1388 mapping segments coming from three others Topo maps (Topo Australia and New-Zealand, Topo Pireneos and Topo Danmark), and all five maps were displayed.

Do you make separated file for each Topo US or combined in one img?

I made two separated files for each Topo US because combined .img exceeded 4 Go.
I notice the same problem if I put in the same garmin folder img file coming from Topo US South Central and another one coming from a part of Topo US North Central (North/South Dakota,Minnesota,Nebraska,Iowa) : only one of both maps is displayed on my Montana.
There are very strange phenomena about this topo US serial. May be somebody else already noticed that on Montana or on others GPS.
