I let doubt. The list is not full on Wiki. There are nearly 17,000 freshwater lakes throughout the continental U.S. according to Garmin.
But anybody can try to check coverage for favourite lake:

Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?
Touche, Giomen! But there are over 1200 freshwater lakes in Indiana alone according to some sources:
and yet the official Indiana government list is more like 900 or so:Code:Please Login or Register to see the links
Depends on what you deem to be a lake, i suppose.Code:Please Login or Register to see the links
Anyway the advise is good by both of us, one way or another: DL the map and check it directly, or have a look on Garmin's Webmap first.

Actually what I meant by 'Depends on what you deem to be a lake' is that one of those links was also counting 'ponds, reservoirs and other fishing bodies of water' into their tally of 'Indiana Fishing Lakes'. I bet a lot of them won't appear on the Inland Lakes series.
I assume that I am one of those that you rate as the 'some chosen by God'? Well, i'm not far from the ocean and i have a 1 acre (4000 sq m for the metric minded) freshwater dam on my property stocked with fish, so i wonder would it appear on 'Inland Lakes of AU' if Garmin did such a map? As for a nearby bakery, there is one within reasonable distance but more importantly there's a bottle shop even closer.Indiana has 1239 lakes, ponds, reservoirs, and other fishing bodies of water to choose from. This lake directory lists Indiana lakes by county. Whether you intend to fish in Noble, Steuben, Kosciusko, or another county, you will find ample fishing information here. To find specific information on the lakes within a county, click on that county and the page that follows will display all associated lakes and other bodies of water.
I'd be mildly surprised if you would rate a food outlet over a source of alcohol, i know i don't .... maybe your bakery sells sly grog ....

Also there are 3 or 4 versions of the indiana map out there as well.
You have the
G2
G2 vision
inland lakes
Hotspot fishing maps( older inland lakes but exact same as printed maps even with fishing area details)
You can check the garmin site for G2 and possibly inland lakes but if your looking at the last option you might want to see if its on this list
Garmin: MapSource - U.S. Recreational Lakes with Fishing Hot Spots EastCode:Please Login or Register to see the links
or see if hotmaps makes a topo map of your lake as that list doesnt cover deams lake but if i remember correctly its on the maps as well.
I end up carrying having about 5 or 6 different map sets as Im trying to get a complete coverage of indiana as everyone is different when it comes to deciding what is and isnt a lake.
My list
G2
G2 vision
inland lakes
hotspot
navionics
DNR maps
Im making custom maps with theseCode:Please Login or Register to see the links

I feel it is in the eye of the map maker, be a bit like labeling all the the lakes in Western Australia majority on them are Salt lakes "lets go for a walk dear across this lake" there are absolutely thousands of them, I guess a GOOD map making will label them all others will just show them.
