    Default Nuvi 700 > 800 series

Has anyone know if it will work or ever tried to add the Speech Recognition files from an 800 series nuvi to a 700 series Nuvi and activating that feature in the 700 series.
    Thanks for any feedback.

If I understand correctly, you mean enable ASR on the series 7xx as the 8xx?
It is possible?? May be a modding/flashing 7xx model..... I do not know, sorry

Please be aware that, with the latest releases maps (type CNNTEU 2013.30) , the ASR files to the 800 series have been closed. And each map (and series) has its own dedicated ASR files

I know a user (other Forum) with the 865T and LM for EU, and every time he needs to update Garmin is calling for Assistance to be credited with this bouquet of files .... but with the latest release doesnt handle them and are not available anymore. I do not know for CNNA

    Bye,bye

Total nonsense! In first, it is absolutely different device due hardware. The second, software is absolutely different too. 700 - Garmin core, 800 - Linux based!

Thanks for the feedback Giomen. I did not know that they were that different.
    That why I asked.

I don't understand what ASR support has to do with different hardware and different OS. ASR is just data. Those differences don't prevent various devices and programs from reading IMG files, for example. The only problem could be if ASR files contained portions of ARM processor instructions inside. But both 8xx and 7xx are ARM devices, so no problem here.

Also, as I understand, mullerh isn't asking about porting 8xx firmware to 7xx hardware (it's going to be very hard, if not impossible, due to those differences), he is asking about enabling ASR support in 7xx firmware. And it's impossible for us for sure, as 7xx firmwares don't even have ASR string inside, therefore, ASR support functionality is not present. And Garmin isn't going to add this trendy feature to this old device (which is already sold and doesn't bring any profit) and make the customer value of newer shiny devices lower.

Sorry, mullerh! I thought what porting ASR support from 8xx firmware (or software from other Garmin device) to 7xx hardware is not so easy. I also thought if devices have a different hardware and a different OS it is total nonsense to try porting software. This is equivalent to the creation of the software with a clean sheet. I was wrong! As say Kunix - so no problem here.

I activated ASR on 3760 with small patch from this forum. It was just a few minute affair. I think Kunix help you to add the Speech Recognition files from an 800 series nuvi to a 700 series Nuvi and activating that ASR feature in the 700 series easily and unconstrainedly.

Nuvi 37xx have in FW string for ASR, but nuvi 7xx don't have this string, so no easy way or patch to activate this function in 7xx series.

I haven't said that it's possible to activate ASR on 7xx easily. I've said the opposite. Also I've said that porting 8xx software to 7xx hardware is too hard, if not impossible.
Giomen has problems understanding english language. Or maybe he is just trolling. I don't know for sure.

I know and what is why I wrote my first post. nuvi 8xx have this ASR string in software but nuvi 7xx is not. If you try copy-paste even code for ARM it is nonsense because both devices have different ARM instruction set due different hardware and OS. No problem it make reading standard ASR data for any device but it is near to the creation of the software with a clean sheet. If it all made sense I think I bought Garmin 5 (5 for example) with all Garmin features on my favorite form-factor device
