There was an unresolved discussion about a related problem from about this [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] (Sensis/Whereis maps on Denso/Dayton VDO units in AU). The suggestion there was to combine one disc's kiwi files (which contain the map data) with the other files from a related but different system (C2 > C1). There is a quote in post #50 which is to do with another further related problem, i.e. swapping the kiwi files from a later to an earlier disc to use the earlier FW to bypass a nag screen and allow data entry while moving. This might give you a springboard to look for a way to swap another countries map data files for your original (probably ALLDATA.KWI). I think the big problem would be to find a way to convert the garmin map data in .img files to usable .kwi files. Good luck.

Yes, Fujitsu Siemens seem to use the same/similar kiwi data files system as Denso & VDO Dayton. It seems Siemens are maybe also connected to VDO is some way commercially as they are to Fujitsu. The whole car DVD Navigation industry appears a little incestuous to me, but there are basic differences in how they operate which makes switching map data from one system to another very challenging. For instance, i think the other smaller kiwi files act to find and reference data in the one that probably contains all the map data, ALLDATA.KWI. As for LOADING.KWI, it would be to do with boot and no doubt is brand/unit/fw specific. Even the Denso 'C1' and 'C2' discs are not interchangeable in AU units.

Well one particular reply caught my attention: #116

The guy states he downloaded, burned and installed the nav disc on his AVN6000. The AVN series are related to Eclipse by Fujitsu Siemens which is basically an older version of my unit (AVN6600).

Other replies are related to Toyota and Subaru Nav discs (Whereis).

Since my AVN unit was purchased from the US with American mapping software, I only have to find a Whereis software for the Middle Eastern market and it will work in my unit. Well this is the closest I will get to having a working navigation system in my car.

Thanks for the info that the AVN's are related to Fujitsu Siemens. The problem maybe though is that your AVN6600 uses different fw and/or files structure to the AVN600, similar to the differences in Denso C1 & C2 units ...... Definitely you should try it, if you can find a compatible map disc for your country. Sensis/Whereis is part of Telsta Aust and i'm not sure how many other countries their map data is available for, but any fw on the (oem/update) disc would be proprietary to the unit manufacturer i would think, ie Denso, Siemens etc. If a Toyota C1 Denso disc works in a similar unit to yours here in AU then maybe you could try a local Toyota disc?
