Hello Neil. Thank you for the files. I copied all of them in the voices menu and they were all identified by the unit, even the TTS ones had a label of them being able to say street names. The system would allow me to select each of them, but I tried them all and even though I didn't get any error messages, none of them "spoke".
Is there any other type of voice files that I could try? Would the ones created in the voice studio work?

Thanks again, I really appreciate your help

Hello Giomen. I tried that, and all the other suggestions in this post + some other experiments I did removing different files and placing the sw.unl file in root & garmin folders, but nothing worked. I was unable to have the unit work with a SD card different than the original it came with it would ask me for their password no matter what I did.
Thanks for all your help, I'll have to stick with that one card and hope it doesn't ever get damaged.

I am opened to test any other approach if any of you want me to, but for the moment I'm ok using the original card... Now I only need to find Mexican voices that work.

    T H A N K Y O U A L L for your help and comments. I can't stress hard enough how much I appreciate all your advice

Can you look on your unit manual what model do you have in car?
Or look in unit in info or software version section.
If we know what you have in car we can help you more.

I do not see garmindevice.xml in SD content. It is very strange?! How update map or system without this file - I do not know

Well, at least it appears that adding an incompatible voice file doesn't cause any problems so you can keep trying anything else out. As far as i'm aware, any voice files created in VoiceStudio will work in all Garmin Nuvis (except 3xx/6xx), Zumo 660 and all Aeras so compatibility is quite broad. I'd have some fun and record your own voice (or better still, Eva Longoria, Sofia Vergara, Selma Hayek..... if you can kidnap one of them, that is).

I can't find any other South American or Mexican Spanish non-TTS voices anywhere, sorry. Doesn't mean there aren't any, though.

You cannot Fully Clone a micro SD Card in windows/dos or Unix because there is a unique number called the SID that cannot be changed.
Someone mentioned on some internet discussion that if you have an SD card Bulk Duplicating Machine you can make an Exact Clone of an SD Card.

Hello lolypop000. The manual doesn't specify which model it is, I did go into the information menus of the unit and these are all the apparent versions I could find:

    Software Version: 4.10
    -----
WW AutoRoute OEM BaseMap NR 2.00
    -----
    Honda 2.00
    Text 2.00 (Spanish)
    Audio 2.30 (Spanish)
    -----

Not sure that helps. I found ths picture of the unit in the Honda site, if you want to see how it looks like: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    Thank you

Hello Neil, Thanks for your observations.... I'll see if I can get Eva Longoria to cooperate ;-)

I don't know how I would update the fw either; maybe through a DVD? I guess I may be stuck with that FW version, as it doesn't seem to be a known device :/

Thank you for being so helpful, and dedicating time to this. I zipped the Voice folder and attached it to this post. Hopefully you'll be able to see why they don't work; It'd be really cool if somehow the street names could be spoken.

    Thanks again :D

I tried the Spanish Voice on a Nuvi 1300 and it works.

"Siga 800 metros e gida la esquerda"

    It's quite scratchy though.
What this proves is that a nuvi is compatible to these non-tts voices.
All things being equal you should be able to use "standard Nuvi Non-TTS Voices"

Try this one just to see if it works.

Hello Dasilvarsa. The voice you attached did work in my unit!! :D What type is it? The only thing is that it seems to be Portuguese and Not Latin AMerican Spanish / Mexican Spanish. Do you know where I can get one in such language? Or how I can tell if a voice will work in my unit?

    Thank you :D

Hello lolypop000. The voice didn't work :/ I noticed that an earlier voice that I had gotten from here, called "Español Américas - Ana" makes some noises when it should speak (whereas the others that don't work don't make any sound). I'm attaching a picture of the screen which shows the TTS voices being labeled as being able to announce street names.

    Thank you!!
