See my reply to a another question of yours [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. You will need TH fw in your SG/MY unit for it to see TH jcv, if that is what you are asking here as well.

    Except 2465/2565 SgMy.
Flashed with Thai firmware won't help.

    Unhappy

Just a little bit curious, AFAIK, Thai JCV only works with Thai firmware. But I see some guy says it worked on his nuvi 205W SG/MY firmware, please refer to the link below.
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Is there any workaround for other devices with SG/MY firmware to fit Thai JCV?
I am looking to flash my 1455 CHN firmware to a SG/MY one. Is it worth the hassle to do that, just for a JUNCTION VIEW?
As we can see from this diagram(credit to aekhong), it seems like SG/MY firmware is the 'best' one in terms of JCV compatibility? [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Yes, AFAIK also, no other fw (including sg/my) of any vintage was ever able to see TH jcv, for that you need TH fw.

But I see some guy says it worked on his nuvi 205W SG/MY firmware...
Maybe it does on a sg/my 205w with older fw, or maybe the guy was mistaken. Maybe Aek can say if it's possible unmodded for that unit, but that info still won't help you with 1455CHN....

Is there any workaround for other devices with SG/MY firmware to fit Thai JCV?
Not unless you are prepared to risk flashing to TH fw. You could try with your original boot bin and don't power off, then if problems flash back to full CHN fw..

SG/MY could never see TH jcv in any case (afaik). Until recently I also thought that the info in that diagram was still current but see [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] where it seems aekhong is saying it's no longer true with newer units/fw.

@Neil, thanks for your clarification. I got it now. Still I have enabled the Thai JCV eventually. But you've got to have a jail-broken iphone first...lol.

The iphone app configuration is like this: 1. Garmin Streetpilot USA onboard + 2. Thai Streetmaps v12.1. With proper *.plist files, map switch and demo/simulation mode are also enabled.

    - Why sudden switch to iphone app....

    - How do we check which JCV is meant for which map?
For a country with different maps, can map A uses map B's JCV by just renaming ?

He was making a joke. He couldn't get TH JCV to work on his CHN nuvi 1455, so he put [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] with Thai Streetmaps v12.1 & its jcv file on his iPhone instead.

JCV files are specific for each map, i.e. each map series and version. The jcv files are issued with each map release if they are available for that map. You can't swap jcv files between different maps by renaming or any other way.

Is there a way to identify which map a particular JCV file is attached to ?
I have many JCVs and some names are not very distinctive.

And am I right to say different time releases of JCVs on any map are workable/interchangeable if they are of the same name.

I'm more used to US/EU type JCV files which are usually named in this style: DxxxxxxxA (x=figure) and they are specific to a particular map release. The file names follow a sequence in a map series, eg, for CNNT NA Version 2013.20 it's D3060070A.JCV, 2013.20 was D3060060A, 2013.10 was D3060050A, etc. Those files are not normally inter-changeable between versions.

Asian files are different, not only to US/EU type, but also differently encrypted to each other so only TH fw sees TH jcv but cannot see SG/MY or any other Asian jcv files and vice versa. The Asian files also are named differently to US/EU.

However, as i said earlier and as far as i know, the same goes for Asian JCV files in that they are specific to a map release, but why not try an earlier one with a current map if you want, and report back as to if it works or not.
