Hi all...
Would just like to get a clarification on this unit...it does not have any maps loaded except for the basemap but can load additional maps.
Can I download the Garmap Africa Series 2012 - 2nd Edition from this site. Unlock it
and follow the tutorial in order to use the unit for navigation for the following purposes:
Garmap Sub-Saharan Africa Streetmaps 2012.2 - (NT) for city and rural roads in vehicle
Garmap Southern Africa Topo & Rec 2012.2 - (NT) for mountain passes and dirtroads (offroad 4x4 and MTB and dirtbikes)
I dont want to buy the device and then I cannot use it because these maps will not work......
Thanks

All files downloaded
Basecamp 3.3.3 + the patch
Garmap Sub-Saharan Africa Streetmaps 2012.2 - (NT)(exe file not the image)
Garmap Southern Africa Topo & Rec 2012.2 - (NT) (exe file not the image)
UnLock MapSource
install Basecamp and do the patch for it.
extract the maps with winzip
........\Garmap_SATopo2012.2NT\SA Topo Rec\setup
unzip the setup file and then you will get : SA Topo Rec 2012.gmap
paste map SA Topo Rec 2012.gmap into fileC:\ProgramData\Garmin\Maps
paste UnLock MapSource.exe in C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Maps\SA Topo Rec 2012.gmap
run the unlocker.
OPen Basecamp and select mapset
Thanks I struggled a bit but it's working

ok need some help again....the maps work great on the pc but I need to transfer it to the device..
I have read the thread : Storing maps in devices....their they only talk about .img files that you have to put on the sd card in a map folder and rename it to the standard .img names for gps and sd card......
But i downloaded the mapsets and unzipped and got a .gmap file directory and there are no image files in it .....what file must i put on the sd card
@Coeta
You must use BaseCamp or MapSource to transfer the map data in whole or part as you require. Use an sd as catymag informed you in Post #2. You said you've already got the gmap folder installed in C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Maps so it will show in either program. Most people find MS a bit easier to use than BC. Maybe do some more reading from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], particularly the ones on 'Mapsource and other programs'.

ok let me rephrase not transfer......but installing the map on the device??
In BC under utilities is the option to install maps but it is greyed out.....does it only come active when the unit is connected with the pc via usb cable or is there another way?
