Use a proxy server. There are many..try googling 'free us proxy'. This way they cannot use their geomap to locate your ip address to raise the cost.

Also [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] you can find cheaper ones like the other user suggested. Or search in the kijiji there are more there as well. Good luck.

I usually find the shipping prices from the states to australia on ebay.au to bring the overall cost up to australian prices anyway. I hadn't thought of trying ebay.com, thanks for the tip.

A minor example i know, but it's the same with more expensive electronic parts. The Aussie retailers could stop bleating about 'turncoat' buyers and start playing the same game. Actually offer their customers the choice of 'dropship' from China and wait, or get it now and pay for the convenience......

Sorry, I was having a bit of a rant in that post, and there was a fair bit in it.... but in the above bit I was referring to stuff from China/HK, not USA. If you check ebay.com for Yank listings, you will generally find the same listings (& prices) that are available to OZ thru ebay.com.au but mixed in with a whole lot of other stuff not available for shipping here. However, often when you check a China/Honkers merchant's items/store thru .com, you will find things cheaper in conversion prices than on the .com.au site (as well as stuff not even listed on .com.au but still available to ship here). However PayPal's rip-off conversion rate or your own credit card's conversion rate and overseas transaction charges (+ 'foreign examination fee' + 'tsetse fly tax' + 'landfill environmental levy' + 'compulsory wombat protection league donation' and wotevathehell else they might dream up to charge) often can level things out more though .

Oh, dear... I've thrown another thread OT.. best we get back to kicking the cr*p outta garmin.au.
