Default Garmin Bluecharts - NEED HELP PLEASE

    Hi

Tried getting the g2 BlueCharts at:

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    and

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Downloaded, unpacked the rar, unlocked img and loaded onto Micros SD card in Etrex 30 but they will not view or appear in map list in GPS unit.

    Same result both maps.

Tried both Fast IMG Unlocker v2.1 and gimgunlock ... didn't seem to matter.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You must be sure about the path where you store the map. Look in your "[etrex 30]":\Garmin\GarminDevice.xml" and the "NMaps" property. I'm not acquainted with etrex 30 and the map paths for that unit.

Some units have "NMaps" as "Map" and other as "Garmin". If you store the maps as something like "HXUS030R.img" & "HUS031R.img" then they must be in the "NMaps" path. If you instead store the maps as a supplemental maps then you should name the map as "gmapsupp.img" (possibly "gmapsup1.img or "gmapsup2.img" for the second map) and store that in "[etrex 30 or microSD]:\{SupplementalMaps directory}\gmapsupp.img".

For troubleshooting - All the maps that Garmin sells as microSD/SD card products are stored as "[Memory card]:\Garmin\gmapsupp.img". That generic path should work on all Garmin units with a memory card slot but those products are with just one map ("gmapsupp.img").

In most of the previous Garmin models .img files had to be in a folder named Map.
Only certain filenames, like gmapsupp.img, were recognised in the Garmin folder.
Now it seems it doesn't matter if they're in the Garmin or Map folder, you can name them what you like: tested on 34xx, probably it works on Etrex 20/30 too.

    My 34xx, the gmapprom.img and a non gmapsupp.img

What about Garmin units without a memory card slot? I'm trying to install tiles from the Bluechart G2 maps onto my Dakota 10. Thanks.
