You had to alter your firmware to do that, just as I had to alter my 1300LM's firmware to get lane assist, junction view, and the speed limit indicator. The OP didn't specify, but based on his questions so far, I don't think he has changed his firmware from what Garmin provides. Thus the answer I gave.

If he wants to change the firmware to add the hidden tracklog support, we all know now that it is possible. But what are the chances of bricking the device?

Close to zero...If you know how nuvi system is working you would understand what I mean - just a simple change in a few function in the main firmware. Nothing so special. IMHO the chance for "freezing", "rebooting" or other unexpected bugs like "Updating Bluetooth", "GPS SW 0.00" etc. are much bigger...unfortunately...

Sorry for the offtopic. Don't want to argue.

No worries. There's no arguing involved, because I genuinely didn't know what was involved in changing the 250's firmware like that, although I thought it might be a process like the 255W, with having to check the circuit board for compatibility and changing to the Asian firmware. If I were going to experiment, I'd do it on my 200W with its Avatar voice. I wouldn't do it on my only GPS receiver.

Interesting, I am going to investigate in order to have more information about alternative firmware of the 250.
    I'll come back...

Just a clarification, with the alternative firmware you mentionned, you are able to :
    1. download from your 250 to your PC tracks you did ?
    2. upload your 250 with a specific track you want to do, without killing installed maps ?

1 or 2 or both or none ???

    1 only (I think).

Each tracklog is stored using "Start/Stop" in a unique folder e.g. just saved (SDCard)\Garmin\Logs\"20110809_015519"
I use wNutrak to mass convert the resulting .bin files to GPX format. It works perfectly for me.

Reading all other posts, I guess (and I'm affraid) you are right.
    I think only one too.

Nevertheless, it should be better if someone else confirms...
