Default 2011 non NT Mapdata maps

    Hi!

Before you jump on me about this, I already know that non NT maps are discontinued in 2009 which is the last update at this time I can get. I really can't replace my Navi with a current model or a model that uses NT maps. Why? It's built into my motorcycle and therefore can't be removed. It's a Goldwing. Year of bike is a 2007.

I was wondering if anybody knows or heard of an aftermarket company, if you will, that still makes updated maps that will work on these older systems.

Just to let you know, I'm entertaining a possibility of replacing the Nav box in the trunk with a 2009 or 2010 Nav unit. These bikes between 2006-2011 are virtually the same. Minor differences. I think the Nav circuitry in the box in the trunk controls all Nav functions. The switching, controls and display look the same. If the wiring connector is the same on both Nav units, then I'm in luck. Change the Navi unit in the trunk with a newer one and I now have NT mapping! Yippie!

I also have a problem related to yours. I use a Garmin gpsmap176 with my motorbike (assisted with a nuvi200) and I have the same problem with the discontinued non-NT maps. If I try to transfer a NT map to the gpsmap176 it will not work.
I also know that it is not possible (or at least known how to) transfer NT maps to non-NT format, and the "market" for this is of course small and disppearing.
On the other hand, I like my old 176 which works perfect especially in sunny weather with its grey-scale screen.
It would be interesting to know if it is possible to transfer a NT-map to a memory card (a special Garmin type card) by the help of a gpsmap276C (or 278) that accepts NT-maps and then put this card into my 176. Possibly the 176 would be very slow due to low cpu capacity, but could it work?

    nice pic
Its not about transferring the NT map the problem , its the NT compression that old devices cannot handle anymore.
The device "decompress" the image part, that it can display the streets and information.
An older device cannot decompress these parts anymore fast enough, your 176 probably cant read NT maps

Yeah, I feared that it was something in that way. Thanks anyway for confirming my fears.
The old 176 will have to be in service on my bike anyhow, since the nuvi200 has the latest maps and often is working with topo maps. The 176 is superior when it comes to handling routes which is essential when driving MC. Finding a destination is not important, it is the way to get there

Garmin just came out with an update for your goldwing. It is listed on their site and is $95.00 plus shipping. Also updates the firmware to 4.40
