What do you mean with "I saved" them with different FID ? Have you changed FIDS in IMG ? What does show GMapTool ?
gmaptool shows one maps has FID 4600 and the other FID 4620. I tried changing the FID to greatly different values. For further information I added the gmaptool info for each file.

This "13976001 MPC" repeated in both maps suggests these IMGs have the same map-ID.
You changed FID and map name, not map-ID
There is function in gmaptool to change it, it is "Change" -> "Change map-ID"
You can load both maps in gmaptool, highlight and run "Details". Gmpatool will give warning, that map-ID are repeated.
I changed the map-id and this worked for one map type; Thanks
Two other map groups still have a problem. I think they have different PID, different names ands Map-id., but I do not know what I am looking at. Here is the gmaptool "info" for both map samples. Any further guidance would be appreciated.

It looks they have different PID but the same FID if I'm not wrong...
The FID of all these mapsets is 0.
Contour Aus 2.00 has PID 7200, FID 0
Contours Australia 5m has PID 8500, FID 0
Shonky Topo has PID 800, FID 0
Shonky Topo w/out Contours has PID 801, FID 0
The value 1252 is listed under "CP", what ever that is. I do not know what all the values listed by GMapTool are!
Chris
1252 is Code Page, West European.
Thanks. I guess the code page can/should be 1252 for all the maps. I still do not know what factors group these maps together in the Nuvi!
Chris
FID 0 is a kind of depreciated value, this value is used by maps, that do not belong to "Family" but "Products". Both names comes from Mapsurce registry keys on PC. I'm not sure, how current gps treat "Products", maybe just as you observe.
For this maps you can change FID/PID value with gmaptool, but in a bit complicated way. You need to split img into maps (not "files for Mapsource", but "single maps") and than join all this maps giving mapset name and new FID/PID numbers in gmaptool join options.
For 3 different mapsets, I finally managed to alter them so that, the maps in each mapset could be selected individually, both visible, neither visible or both visible.
Firstly I had 2 maps generated by gpx2img [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]. These are transparent maps. For these I used GMapTool [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] and changed the map name and map ID.
I had both 10m and 5m transparent contour maps from Contours Australia. [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] and [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] . These maps had the same PID and a FID of 0. For these I had to use GMapTool to split one of the img into maps (not "files for Mapsource", but "single maps") and then join all these maps giving a mapset name and new FID/PID numbers in gmaptool join options.
Similarly I used the same approach to alter one of the maps I was using from the Shonky Topo maps [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] and [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]
In the end I managed to make the various maps individually selectable, but I could not have done it without help from people on the forum [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]
Thanks to all
