    Question anyone use Garmin 295W????

just to check with you all, how many maps can sit into the internal memory?

it seems the device only recognize gmapprom and gmapsupp.. i tried to add the 3rd maps with gmapprom2 or gmapsupp2 it is not recognized by the system..

am i able to change the firmware to those with junction view and lane assist function?

    thanks

I'm not familiar with 295W. Don't use "gmapprom2.img" (use "gmapprom1.img") & "gmapsupp2.img" (use "gmapsup2.img") anyway since the names are not the standard ones.

The usual map files for nüvi units are:
    • gmabbmap.img (Basemap)
    • gmapprom.img (Primary pre-installed map)
    • gmapprom1.img (Secondary pre-installed map)
    • gmapsupp.img (Supplemental map)
    • gmapsup2.img (Secondary supplemental map)
    • gmapoem.img (OEM map, normally just POIs)
    • gmaptz.img (Time zone data)

Some newer units can use "{any_name}.img" for maps in the "Map" directory. Check the "[295W]:\Garmin\GarminDevice.xml" for possible IMG paths.

It's not likely to get Line Assistant and/or Junction View with currently available firmware and firmware hacks. Maybe in the future.

    Hi Ballebar,
I tried gmapprom1.img and gmapsup2.img.. it seems this 295w only restricted to 2 maps.. this device is actually a garmin nuviphone G60 platform, im not sure about G60 can load for how many maps internally. I guess the only way is to put the addtional maps into microSD card..

u can use gmapoem.img, gmap3d.img, gmap3d1.img along with gmapprom.img and gmapsupp.img in the unit memory.

Yes, the gmapoem.img would work. However, the map files still should be placed in the internal memory of the unit. The 295w cannot read the maps in the sd card. Anyone has a solution to let the 295w read the map files in the sd card?
(My 295w can read the mp4 files in the sd card but cannot recognize the .img map files in the sd card)
