Question Garmin GPS for bus (recommendations)

    Hi!

Which Garmin device you recommend for driving the bus?

What are your experiences with Garmin dezl 560 and which settings you are using (truck, RV or something other)?

Depends on your budget. If your pocket is deep, go for a dezl 760 or RV 760 with a 7" screen. Great for vehicles where the unit is a further from the driver than in a car, has more features than the others. If a bit poorer, get a dezl 560, 5" screen. If you're kinda broke go for a nuvi 465 [truckie's nuvi] 4.3" screen.

If you have a few modding skills, buy a nuvi 2797 to convert to dezl 760 or RV 760, nuvi 2460 to convert to dezl 560 or nuvi 2x5W [hwid 0827] to convert to nuvi 465, be cheaper still. See this tut for 2460 to 560: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] The same principals apply to the other 2 conversions, but best to stick with hybrid fw to be safer.

As for the profile to select, 465 has Truck, 560 has Truck or Motor Home/Caravan same as 760. All can also be in Car profile too of course. It really depends on the size of your bus whether you should select one or the other. The profiles are quite customizable as to dimensions, weight, axles etc.

    NUVI

I have a very favorable opportunity to purchasing dezl 560LT.

I'm confused, because there is no option for the bus in this device. I'm not sure that RV options fully fit for driving the bus, although I can not think of a single reason to doubt.

I will make the appropriate profile for the bus, of course, but I'm afraid the city streets where traffic is allowed for the RV and not for buses or vice versa.

Probably better to use the 'Truck' profile, but i really don't think it will matter too much either way as both the options are quite customizable. Provided your bus's details for dimensions, weight etc can be entered it probably doesn't matter in the technical sense, the unit will route you around low overpasses, away from narrow streets and the like. The difference may be in some countries that, for instance, certain GVM freighter trucks are banned from some roads whereas same weight passenger buses are not. I'd think that if length [determining turning circle] is a factor in narrow city streets/small roundabouts etc then it doesn't matter whether it's a truck, bus, RV or Army DUKW, it's the size that counts [ask any Barmaid in any pub in the world about that ].

Of course Garmin and their map providers take absolutely no responsibility for the use of their hardware and software anyway. It's up to the user to determine if the vehicle is used legally in any given situation.
