Is Mapwel a good current program?
It seems that they are a bit out of date and before I make the purchase, I want to make sure they are still a coog viable company.

Looks like no updates for nearly three years now, and the main page shows v18 is current version, yet download only offers v17.

I have sent an email to inquire, will see if anyone responds....

Do you know of any alternative programs for generating Garmin IMG files?

I believe GlobalMapper is a favorite for map makers, and possibly one of the few remaining solutions still receiving frequent updates and support.

I checked with Global Mapper, they do not output to the Garmin IMG format.
