Default Garmin nuvi 1690 corrupted flash

    Hi to all

I have a Garmin nuvi 1690 HW:1130 SW: 3.90 that power up and its working fine (routing, gps sattelites but no voices and the only language is American English), maps are installed on SD card but the internal memory is not accessible, I do not know why but when I plug to the USB port PC is freezing explorer. I want to install voice and language files but I can not access the internal memory so I thought if I can find Garmin xml file from the same nuvi 1690 and modify with my serial number so i can install through the web updater system files on SD card. Is this possible or is any way to repair internal memory. I tried to format internal flash with RMPrepUSB but no luck. Is there solution for this problem?

    Thank in advance!!

First Remove the sd from Nuvi when you try to format.
It could be an USB port or cable problem:
I would suggest you to use a different USB port and check if it works.
    Use another USB cable.
    Don't use USB Hub.
    Disable your Antivirus or/and Firewall
I would also suggest you to try with a different computer with XP or 7 if you have Vista.
    If nothing helps try
    Code:

Thank you catymag, i managed to format internal drive and now it is accessible, now problem is i have empty internal drive and garmin updater cannot update because lack of garmindevice.xml. Do you now hot to create garmindevice.xml or somebody could share from same device. Updater with rgn file updates device but does not create Garmin\Garmindevice.xml on restart.

GarminDevice.xml from another unit wont help you as the unit re-creates it from scratch at each boot cycle. Create a folder named Garmin in root, boot it and then check for the xml file. Other 1xxx devices [1100/1200/1300/1400] all will boot empty and create the Garmin folder themselves but 1690 might require it be created manually as do some other device series. Some 2xxx units are known to also need to have some other folders and files onboard, but try just creating the Garmin folder first.

Here you go, just extract the rar file directly to the root alongside the Garmin folder you created.
